Cbh Chevin Country Park Hotel and Spa

Nice place. The room was a decent size. Reception very good. The bar area was very, very busy and very, very understaffed. They were complaining about people paying in cash as they were running out of change. There are still a lot of people who only use cash, myself included. The breakfast was quite good but disappointed that you didn't have any butter, just margarine, which I feel tastes disgusting. I think for the prices paid that you could stretch to a bit f butter.

Lots of rubbish in the grounds of the lodges which was unsightly. Also there were several area where bins for the hotel were not hidden and could be seen from our window. The whole park could do with a revamp and tidy up

The family room was spacious and clean but the decor was dated. The spa area was also quite dated in appearance but the staff were pleasant and well greeted which left a positive impression

It’s a bit run down (although it’s better than it used to be) if you get it for a decent price it’s ok for a night or two but wouldn’t pay over £80pn. The rooms in the hotel are a bit better than the cabins. The spa needs a facelift.

We got put in a very small double bedroom (standard double) but there was barely any room to move about, even the bathroom was tiny. I went and spoke to the manager who was lovely and upgraded us to the executive suite (honeymoon) no extra charge as it was my partners birthday. Absolutely amazing !!

Great place to stay

We booked a deal for an overnight stay to include a meal,breakfast spa treatment and use of spa facilities in a lodge . The lodge was definitely not luxury but it was ‘rustic’ warm and comfortable and had everything we needed and the setting was beautiful. The staff here are very accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a good one. I requested an early check in so I could add a few birthday celebration banners etc in the lodge. This was granted and also a card and chocolates were in the lodge which was a lovely touch. The spa facilities were lovely and because you were given a time to use it. It meant the spa was never really full to capacity , which added to a relaxing experience. We all requested massages. These were amazing! Very professional and tips given to relieve aches and pains. The staff really can’t do enough for you,very attentive and friendly from the housekeeping to the waiters. The evening meal was delicious, we all enjoyed our food and breakfast was good. We will definitely return again! Fabulous stay.

Booked for afternoon tea at 2pm, we were seated promptly out on the terrace overlooking the pond, we were blessed with the sunshine, sat for over three hours chatting away, we had a lovely afternoon tea with lovely hot scones with jam and cream, service was great with lots of refillable coffee/tea. The SPA was busy lots going off, had a walk round the woodland afterwards saw lots of squirrels, and was very impressed. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

We stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary, which cost us £430. We arrived Friday and was greeted by a wedding party that had taken over the only seating area and bar. As we couldn’t check in for an hour, we had to sit outside with the wedding guests at the last remaining table. We spent Saturday away from the hotel, but when we returned later that afternoon, there was another wedding. It quickly became apparent this was more a “psss up” than a classy wedding. The guests were falling over, swearing, downing shots and their kids were running around without any supervision, causing absolute carnage. The mess the wedding guests left the only toilets in was disgraceful and the hotel staff only cleaned them once we had told them. It was clear the toilets are not checked or cleaned regularly. In respect of the hotel itself, the rooms are abysmally small, noisy and need updating. The TV on the wall was the smallest TV I’ve seen for about 20 years (not much bigger than an iPad). We dined at the hotel on both nights and as vegetarians, the options were limited to 2 choices. However, the soup started was amazing. My husband’s spicy cauliflower was burnt and inedible and the waiting staff agreed and did not charge us for it. We are waiting for a response from the hotel which I would have expected by now but I’m not going to hold my breath. Needless to say, we wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
