The Wynnstay Hotel, Oswestry, Shropshire

Good clean rooms with nice touches, good carpark inside secure barier gate, Nice breakfast for guests, Good coffee. and allowed us four non staying freinds to join us at a very reasonable price. Nice spacious outside area, friendly helpful staff

The hotel is beautiful. The food was delicious and the staff were very attentive to our needs in more ways than one. Also I would like to take this opportunity to thank the kind young long haired gentleman who helped me with my case/luggage. Very much appreciated. However, the room allocated to us was disappointing. At some point in the early hours of Saturday morning, we had no ceiling lights. The electrics were working, but not the ceiling lights. The bathroom towel rail was cold and the radiator in the bedroom was cold also, so this now explains why there is a floor standing heating appliance. To add to this inconvenience we had NO hot water to shower. It was lukewarm. We mentioned these inconveniences to the duty manager at breakfast on the Saturday morning, who got the lights working only. After a day exploring the surrounding area, we came back thinking we would be able to shower and refresh, but sadly nothing had changed. No hot water, no warm towel rail or radiator either and the weather was cold outside. When we went for our evening meal, we mentioned this cool shower to the receptionist who very kindly offered to look into this matter. She agreed that it wasn't to the standard it should have been as the adjacent room was very hot. She did offer to give us a key to use the other room's facilities in the morning, but we did not wish to do this, as you go away expecting everything to work to a satisfactory level. We told her we would shower etc when we got home, which is what we have done. The Wynnstay Hotel is advertised as a luxury hotel, but our experiences did not match this statement at all. We paid in full at the time of booking, so with this, the hotel did not fulfill its commitments to our stay. Also, we are used to lovely snug comfortable bedding, but this bed was hard and so were the pillows.

Celebrated a birthday here last night. Couldn't fault the service or the high quality of the meal. Even better was the offer of a free main and dessert if it was your birthday! Even without the offer of the free meal, prices were very reasonable considering it was an hotel.

First Class staff, consistently friendly, and efficient. An excellent hotel for an overnight stay with the first class breakfast in the morning. We also ate in the coffee shop which is run by the hotel and the staff were excellent, once again friendly and efficient. We would be delighted to use this hotel again and commend it to you .

We visited for my husband's 60th birthday and the staff went out of their way to make our stay special. The room was fabulous and the food fantastic but it is the staff that make this place stand head and shoulders above the rest. Nicola on reception and Sam at the bar particularly stand out but everyone we spoke to was just so lovely.

I stayed here for my 30th birthday with my wife, we were met by the receptionist and she was lovely and gave us all the information we needed. Our room was absolutely gorgeous we were extremely happy with it! The location was brilliant with shops, bars and restaurants all within a few minutes walk away! One thing we loved was the lovely welcoming atmosphere. We also chose to eat here and the food was absolutely amazing and more than reasonably priced. One negative thing must say though was there was one man (I presume restaurant/front of house manager) was very rude to staff and spoke to them awfully. It seemed alot of the staff were almost scared of him and he wasn't happy until he had an apology from staff, both me and my wife thought it was quite horrible to see. But other than that, our experience on a whole was amazing and will definitely be returning. Definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to stay here!
