In fairness, this place is absolutely lovely. Our room delightful. The food is outstanding and the owner is a good host. However our experience was not quite 5 stars, rather a solid 4.5. When checking in, the host was very accommodating and escorted us to our room. It was dark and I couldn’t wait to view the property in the morning. (Was not disappointed! ) I jumped in the shower and had only gotten soaped up when the hot water ran out. We spoke to the owner and he assured us that the water heater worked fine for the entire property. My husband attempted to shower a little later and he experienced the same thing. It was after that that the owner came to our room to determine that there was something wrong and we changed to another room next door. This room was also lovely . The dining room was warm and comfortable and food was delicious. Every morning at breakfast you’ll find that night’s dinner menu. If anything doesn’t appeal, simply request a replacement. One meal of note was the most delicious prawns! I think the property is so very beautiful. Every one is kind and generous. If you want to have a lovely Masseria experience I do recommend spending some time here. They are currently building a new accommodation next door and it looks gorgeous. I know the hot water thing is what takes our trip down a notch, but sure that it is now rectified.

We had a wonderful 3 days at the masseria. We had a great time. The owner was very helpful with everything we needed. The breakfast was great. A lovely atmosphere makes you feel like home and very close to Ostuni, my favorite spot in Puglia. The room was small but very well organized. During our visit the weather was cold so we could not enjoy the pool and outside seating but everything looked beautiful

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our three night stay at Masseria Salinola. We booked the absolutely charming fireplace room, although in June, we didn't actually use the fireplace. The bed was quite comfortable, nice bathroom with good water pressure, fridge in the room, bathrobes, great A/C, very clean, and tables and chairs outside our front door on the patio to relax in the shade with a beverage. The housekeeping staff was always prompt, with our room already refreshed while at breakfast. The owners of the property and the rest of the staff couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. The property has been in the same family for generations. The property is beautiful with a large garden, and many areas to relax. We very much appreciated the pool, as it was quite warm in June during our stay. Plenty of lounge chairs for the number of guests. In the evenings, fires were lit around the property, as well as atmospheric lighting to add to the magical setting. The Masseria is within walking distance of the historic center of Ostuni if without a car, probably 30-40 mins one-way, and there are also bikes for use with helmets and locks. We walked into Ostuni on a Saturday, market day, spent the day exploring Ostuni, and hired a tuk-tuk (25 euros) back to the Masseria in the afternoon. The staff can arrange taxi transport also to/from the train station or town. We rode bikes to/from Ceglie Messapica (approx 20 miles roundtrip), which is another worthwhile town. The route travels by olive and fig orchards, and many trulli and dolmen, on lightly traveled roads. It was a very picturesque outing in the Pugilese countryside. Cisternino is also within biking (maybe walking), or Vespa distance if without a car. We found the location of Masseria Salinola to be a good base for exploring the area. Now onto the food: Breakfast was delicious, served on an outdoor terrace covered by grape vines, overlooking the pool. Lunch and dinner are also served here during warm weather. Everything you could possibly want was available on the included breakfast buffet, from focaccia, frittata, other breads, many cakes, cheeses, meats, fruit, vegetables, granola, cereals, juices, yogurts, and eggs made to order. The jams were made on property from their orchards, as well as olive oil (all for sale). There is a tea corner available all day, with cakes in the afternoon, as well as an honor bar. There was always still and sparkling water available. Dinner was four courses, or less if desired, and a menu was available each morning for that evenings dinner to let the staff know if you'd like to dine at the Masseria. We dined at the Masseria all three nights, always a delightful experience. We felt dinner was reasonably priced and well worth it. They have a nice selection of wines every evening recommended for the menu. We can heartily recommend Masseria Salinola for it's location, atmosphere, amenities, comfort, food, value, cleanliness, and especially the gracious hospit

We stayed 3 nights as part of our Puglia road trip, very accessible and easy to find, also if arriving by train approx 15 eur in a taxi, we found this family run masseria to be almost perfect in every way. From the friendliness and family run feel, some of the small touches and attention to detail were excellent, we only ate one night in the Masseria as there were so many places to experience in Ostuni, which is such a great location. the food we had was of an extremely high quality with local produce some of which produced on the premises. We will certainly be back.

My wife and I travelled throughout the Puglia region and stayed in multiple five-star hotels and masserias during our month-long trip. Without a doubt, Masseria Salinola was by far the best we stayed at. Everything came together: the suite, the history, the hospitality of the entire staff, and especially that of Danielle, the owner. The fact that there are so few suites, we found ourselves privileged to have discovered and to have stayed at this magnificent location. I travelled extensively over the thirty years I ran a consulting business, and rarely did I see a place not only so well appointed but spotless. The pride Danielle has for this Masseria, which has been handed down over many generations, is very evident. To top it off, we enjoyed great meals accompanied by amazing local wines. Thank you, Danielle, for your care and your generous hospitality.

Everything was perfect! It really feels like coming home. I wish it was my home :-) The hospitable welcome by Daniele and his staff, the attractive authentic Masseria that is so beautifully decorated, the pool with plenty of sun beds, the cozy seating areas everywhere and not to mention the delicious food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are of very high quality. Everything is dedicated to satisfying the guests. We really enjoyed our stay!

This was the most beautiful and relaxing place on earth. We LOVED everything--our room, the pool, the breakfast which had all homemade pastries and egg dishes also. They use eggs from their chickens ! Daniele is the fourth generation to own and operate this lovely Masseria and his staff is wonderful. The location is very close to the historical city of Ostuni that is famous for its white-washed buildings (AKA the WHITE CITY). I cannot recommend this lovely place highly enough ! I will be back :)

A very special place just outside Ostuni. A sixteenth century masseria (fortified farmhouse) has been transformed into a beautiful, unique and spotless small hotel. The scent of smoke from wood fires lit every evening (we were there in May & the nights were cool) wafts through the courtyard, and there’s a tiny old chapel on site, which adds to the special atmosphere. A lovely pool with plenty of loungers and a terrace on which you can enjoy breakfast were much appreciated. And the breakfast itself was out of this world - it included homemade focaccia and frittata, jars of homemade jam and pickled vegetables in olive oil (including artichokes & aubergines) and way too many homemade cakes to get to try them all! We also had a few dinners at the hotel, which were delicious. It’s a set menu, but the lovely owner was extremely accommodating around my husband’s intolerances, and he was also super-happy with the food. We were very sad to leave and certainly hope to return.

Masseria Salinola is a family run business that makes each guest feel like they are part of that family. I have celiac disease and was able to eat an amazing variety of foods for the 9 days that we stayed there without having any issues. From the moment Sonia welcomed us and told us that they wanted us to feel at home during our visit until the time we left, EVERY staff member was warm and welcoming and made us feel at home. It was such an incredible experience --certainly one we will never forget. We are very grateful to everyone there for everything they did as to make our stay unforgettable and relaxing. Grazie mille!!!! Spectacular!

Truly a wonderful experience staying at Masseria Salinola. Elegant but warm, every effort was made to ensure an exceptional experience. The property is beautiful, dining room lovely with lots of flowers, your own table for the duration of the visit. We opted to have dinner on each of the three nights we stayed. An excellent choice as the food was delicious, four courses and a great reward after a day exploring local towns such as Alberobello and Lecce. We also enjoyed the pool as although still a little chilly it was refreshing after the days travels. Our room was quiet and comfortable with a private outdoor seating area. The owner and staff were genuine and made our stay a pleasure.

My wife and I booked a 4 days stay. By far the Masseria Salinola was the best experience of any of the other locations we stayed while traveling in Italy. The people were friendly and caring, the rooms and grounds were very unique and beautiful, and the food was outstanding.

Masseria Salinola provided a truly luxurious stay. I don't mean luxury of the glitz and glamour type; I mean the luxury of having all your needs met, of being in a place where you can truly relax, of pausing a while where the elegantly rustic decor greets you like an old friend. This is, nevertheless, a well-curated experience. You are greeted upon arrival by a friendly staff member, maybe Sonia, maybe Daniele and invited to sit for a welcome cool drink while you are informed of the daily routine: eat, swim, visit the orchard, sit by the fire, watch a movie, have a drink. Local events and activities are also described on the event schedule thoughtfully provided at breakfast. Breakfast? Seems an inadequate moniker for the cornucopia of choice from protein (eggs, meats) to pastries (an array) to pears (and other fruits) laid out every morning in the delightful country dining room. Lunch and dinner are also provided for those who just want to hunker down and forget about the outside world for a few days. Both our four-course evening meals were traditional and delicious, two of the best we had during our trip. As we strolled back to our room (#11, living room with fireplace, double shower) for the night, after a full day of touring the local sights (Alberobello, Lecce and the coast are within an hour's drive) or a relaxing one of reading by the pool, with the fires softly crackling and the lights glowing, we thoroughly appreciated our surroundings and the warm hospitality - and planned our next visit!

This was our first time at a Masseria and for the most part I heartily recommend it. At one time this was a working farm. It has been in the family for four generations and the love the owners have for this place is palpable. Given that it’s not in the old city of Ostuni it made sense to have dinner at the Masseria for the two nights we were there. The main reception/dining/living area is decorated in a way that makes you feel comfortable- there are Knick knacks everywhere and small seating areas around 2 fireplaces and on the enclosed terrace. Although they have a pool it was rainy and cool so can’t really review that but it looked nice. The rooms were very small, compact and a bit old - the bathroom was quite old but the biggest surprise were 2 shower heads in the shower. The bed was comfortable. I think the age of the rooms goes with the overall ambience of the Masseria - aged but comfy. The owners and their small staff (family?) were all terrific. The food was good, both breakfast and dinner. Staying here was definitely a change of pace.

Gorgeous property with attention to details! Loved the outdoor fire pits at night! Food and wine was wonderfully paired and absolutely delicious. And the service from Daniela and his team was top notch! Highly recommend this property and definitely would stay again!
