When my wife and I entered our room, we immediately felt it was warmer and more humid than outside. Upon inspecting further, we discovered mold, dust everywhere, and filthy floors. I tried to call the front desk using the room phone, but it was out of order. I then used my cell phone, but no one answered. I texted the number I received during check-in, and while I eventually got a response, it was too late as I was already heading to the front desk. There, I showed a staff member photos of the room’s condition. He was visibly upset, cursing and saying the situation was unacceptable. He assured me that a new room would be provided and instructed me to return to my room to wait for new key cards. However, when I got back, the air conditioning had stopped working, and my children were asleep. We waited an hour for the new key cards, but they never arrived. I then packed up, took my family to the car, and went back to the front desk. They initially said I wouldn’t get a full refund because I had been there for over an hour, but after requesting a manager, I was eventually promised a full refund. Finding another place to stay on a busy Labor Day weekend was challenging, and we ended up at a Disney resort hotel, but we couldn’t check in until 2 AM, four hours after our original check-in time at the Holiday Inn. It was a disastrous start to our long weekend.
