Beautiful property and great potential. Unfortunately our room was much smaller than the photos, had hair in the shower and a strong mildew smell. There was mold in the mini fridge that didn’t work. The AC and drying rack also didn’t work, unfortunately. We were a bit disappointed and tried to leave early but the terse concierge told us the only person who could refund us was “on vacation”. We went out to the lake for the day and came back late to find ourselves locked out with our luggage still inside (though still unwilling to refund us). Very odd experience. One of the waitresses at breakfast was very nice though!

Our second visit to the hotel - and couldn’t be more fabulous. This time we brought our parents and we were so well looked after from first arrival. The staff are utterly excellent, room excellent and dinner in the castle was a real treat. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful.

I would start from positive sides: Location is beautiful: garden, castle, enormous park, views on the lake Personnel is overall quite polite Restaurant for dinner is very good, food quality, wine choice - fantastic! Now comes big BUT: The rooms are tiny! Not small, but size of elevator. You could literally not fit bathroom, if you are tall. On the other side, you could wash your hands while sitting on the toilet, isnt that convenient? The hotel claims to be after renovation. I understand using antique furniture, but I do not understand just painting the door and using old appliances. It is not renovation, its just painting the walls! Our toilet just stopped flushing! In the middle of the stay. And the new ventilation/smart system is just decoration. Non of the buttons worked. Soundproofing is absent, at all. You could hear people turn in the bed in the other room. If you come in cold times, be prepared to wear clothes while sleeping. We were unlucky with weather, and we had to sleep in bathrobes and clothes, as the room was super cold. Finally, the fact that completely ruined our stay: apparently hotel forgot to mention that there would be wedding in the same building we stayed! Add no soundproofing and windows which are more of decoration: and you hear party in your room till 2am! In case you wonder: we paid full price for our stay. They tried to find another room, but it could hardly help with loud music and screaming people. Room facilities: it’s been a while I’ve seen Nescafé in 5* hotel with ＞300eur per night. At least put some quality coffee. Overall, come for dinner and nice walk, but would not recommend for overnight stay.

Excellent stay in Castello dal Pozzo. This being our third visit and the Castello continues to impress and develop. Room, bar, restaurant and surroundings are simply so good! We will come here again! And in the surroundings, a visit to Sacre Monte di Varallo is an absolute must!

Fantastic experience for us at Castello Dal Pozzo. We arrived very late due to a flight delay but the reception staff, porter, waiter and kitchen staff had all waited on for us and ensured that we had a meal at the restaurant whilst bags, etc were sorted out in the background. What a great initial introduction, impression and start to our holiday and it carried on from there. Fabulous room, great food in both restaurants throughout our stay. Fantastic staff, all of them - without exception, at Reception, in the restaurants, Pool bar, Housekeeping etc. We also took the free guided tour of the castle which, again was most informative and did extensive walks in the estate grounds during our stay. Only downside really was poor-ish Wi-Fi on the 4th floor but we were assured this was being addressed. Very highly recommended overall, we would love to return soon.

We had a fabulous time. The castle rooms are breathtaking. The grounds are magnificent. Breakfast was excellent. Above, the staff were very kind, welcoming and accommodating. Service was exceptional. I highly recommend this hotel. Enjoy!

What a beautiful Hotel. The rooms are very large and the area is quiet. The location is ideal, very near the Lago Maggiore. The restaurant "Le Fief" is delicious. They work together with a one star chef. The kitchen has a very high standard. The staff is very kind and helpful. The breakfast buffet is good. We only missed the fresh orange juice. A very good 5 star hotel.

Very frustrating experience with the a. 3 nights stay at Castello dal Pozzo Very frustrating experience with Smartbox. I bought a gift on Decembre for a 3 days stay in Italy at Cadstello dal Pozzo for 400 chf, just to learn that the hotel refuses the Smartbox offer just after having contacted the hotel many times to agree on possible dates. A real disappointment especially that I bought the Smartbox specifically for this hotel.

My wife and I discovered this wonderful place after traveling everywhere in Europe for the last 40 years. As a travel writer I have confidently shared our discovery of this wonderful place with many friends and readers. From the moment you arrive you receive a warm greeted by the most professional and caring staff. Everyone is attentive and truly want to make your stay a good one. When we arrived mid day we went to the pool for a wonderful lunch. Near us was a table with an attractive family, of 3 generations and their family dog, They were the family who owns and manages the property , "eating their own cooking" as we say, and enjoying the quiet loveliness of their own property. There are 3 choices of accommodations here, each wonderful and meeting special preferences. We stayed in the Palazzo and loved it, but the Castello/Castle and its garden and views are outstanding. The rooms in the beautifully renovated stables with large grass common area are very accommodating, especially for families with children. The whole property is a destination in itself with so many things to see. We had breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, all in totally different environments, and it all was superb. In closing, we all know that the staff makes all the difference wherever we stay. Again, the staff, and owners, could not be more welcoming, joyful and professional. When you book avoid the supposedly new rooms in the stable! As the only real fact is that you will sleep in the stables!!! On the restaurant side, food and wines were above expectations, unfortunately the service was so bad, that it is clear I will never come back. It is a pity to see such a nice venue so poorly managed!!!
