The Emerald Iguana Inn

This was our second stay at the Emerald, and it didn't disappoint. This time we stayed in the Leaf Suite and we liked it better. The staff is always so cheerful, attentive and helpful. We love how quaint the inn is, you feel like you're staying in a friend's guest house. The location of the Emerald is fantastic, it's 2 minute drive to the main drag, or only an easy 15 minute walk.

We came to Ojai for a Belinda Carlisle concert. We wanted to stay somewhere that was within walking distance and close enough to restaurants. This resort is so nice and quiet, beautifully decorated, and has wonderful, helpful staff. I would recommend this resort to any couple, who would love a nice getaway in a beautiful location.

A tranquil oasis just a 10 minute walk to the main drag in Ojai. Check-In was a breeze. Just an envelope with the key to my room left on the door. It's a small property and while they say they don't provide breakfast, there is such an abundance in the Welcome Room - coffee, teas, little mini Danish you could have a breakfast out of it. I stayed in a toad room which was just marvelous.

Wow! What a great place. We stayed in the Cricket King Suite and it did not disappoint. What an amazing room (2-stories!) The property location is great and the grounds were well kept. We ordered the continental breakfast for two and it was perfect. They have a very nice pool and the staff was friendly. My only problem was mosquitos which has nothing to do with the property itself and, in fact, the front office kindly gave us some bug repellent.

The Emerald Iguana in is a lovely little oasis in Ojai, sits in a quiet residential neighborhood just blocks from downtown. The rooms are so lovely, you feel like you're staying in someone's guest cottage. The setting is so picturesque and serene.

Our stay at the Emerald Iguana Inn was wonderful. We stayed in the Gecko cottage, it was cozy and quiet. Liked having a kitchen available for dine -in options. The Gecko is a 2 bedroom cottage with 2 bath areas, living room, dining & galley kitchen.Basically a small house. (Front porch sitting area included) Comfy king size master opened onto a private patio. This is a tucked away property, feels peaceful the moment you enter. Thoughtful decor and art work enhance this super clean property. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Pool area was inviting tho we didn't use the area. Self -serve Coffee & snack area also offers movies & board games. Nothing not to like here. Only drawback was knowing we'd have to check out after our two night stay !

A truly understated elegance. Found in a neighborhood, end of the road. Exquisite grounds, serene, peaceful. Balconies with comfy furniture, great bed. Everything was so special and private. Outdoor bathroom near pool wonderful inclusion. Lovely little snack area with snacks, coffee and games. Stay here before any resort in Ojai!

Overall it was an ok stay. We were in Ojai for 4 nights and this hotel had the advantage of being with walkers distance of the shopping and restaurants, This was an advantage but note that off the main ***** is not walker friendly- there are more or less no pavements which is a bit dangerous at night as you have to share the road with cars. We upgraded the room from the original booking to the Grasshopper. Overall the room was nice. There is a slightly odd arrangement where the bath is on one side of the bedroom and the sink is also in the bedroom not the bathroom. One of the advantages of the room, we thought, was that it had a small patio but we never sat there as it was in the shadows . Overall the room was clean and comfortable. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice lady who also was there at checkout. A couple of things to bear in mind. We had just come from Palm Springs where we stayed in a motel with a well- heated pool. We were told when we arrived at the Emerald Inn that the pool was not heated so we could not use it which was disappointing. On the last evening guests arrived at the room next door which also extended above our room. As there are adjoined doors between rooms we could hear their conversation and movement as I am sure they could hear us. We were lucky it was one night only because it could be a problem for some. Also note reception is closed in the evening so the hotel can feel a bit of a lonely place. Overall we were happy enough but by comparison with other places we stayed in California for a similar price, we were a bit underwhelmed. Emerald Iguana is such a charming spot, within walking distance of all that downtown Ojai has to offer. My room (Feather) was beautiful, clean, and quiet. The front desk staff was helpful and quick when I needed a lightbulb replaced. This is a cozy spot, a nice home away from home for a quick stay and even for a longer one.
