Ceylon Tea Trails - Relais & Chateaux

We last stayed in Ceylon Tea Trails 14 years ago and always wanted to come back. This time we stayed 3 nights at Castlereagh bungalow. Although the weather was less than perfect, we had a delightfully restful time. Chef Ravichandran conjured up perfect meal after perfect meal. We love Sri Lankan food and he was happy to oblige with a series of meals showcasing different aspects of the cuisine. A gastronomic tour de force. My stay at Norwood Banglow, Ceylon Tea Trails was a serene escape into the heart of Sri Lanka's tea country. Waking up to the mist-kissed tea plantations, the aroma of freshly brewed tea, and the gentle sounds of nature was pure bliss. The Norwood bungalow, nestled amidst the lush greenery, offered the perfect blend of comfort and rustic charm. One of the highlights was the guided tea factory tour. Learning about the intricate process of tea production from plucking to tasting was fascinating. The tea tasting experience was a sensory delight, as I savored the delicate flavors and aromas of various tea varieties. Overall, Ceylon Tea Trails provided a truly unforgettable experience, offering a peaceful retreat and a deep appreciation for the art of tea making. Lastly the each and every memeber of the courteous staff made you feel at home and the chefs made sure food on your plate matches the experience.

My family and I booked three rooms at the Summerville Bungalow and this was our experience. The Stay: The rooms and bathrooms were larger than what I expected. There were plenty of amenities and they it was cozy. The rooms were comfortable, and the beds perfect for a good night's sleep. The surrounding gardens and the bungalow overlooking the Castlereigh Reservoir was stunning! Everything was well maintained and we couldn't see any wear or tear in any form on the property. The property looks new, which can't be easy to maintain. The Food: The food was delicious!!! Hats off to the chef and his team. They made everything we wanted and it was all made from scratch. The food just kept coming, and we were too weak to say no to anything as we loved the taste of everything. The Staff: The staff has to be one of the best aspects of this amazing property. They anticipated our needs before we knew them. They were always ready to provide us with anything we might want. They checked in with us regularly and ensured that our comfort came first in all aspects. I cannot say I have met a more attentive staff in my life. We really appreciated them. The All Inclusive: Everything from the food and the drinks to the liquor and the laundry was included in our stay. It made the stay a unique one. Summerville Bungalow felt like our home for those two nights. Everything was provided for when we needed it and it was done so in a swift manner. We were treated like royalty. The Unique: I rarely say this about a place, but I want to keep visiting this splendid property. Ceylon Tea Trails is unique as they have five bungalows, each with their own charm, garden and views. They have an attentive staff and talented chefs. As I have stayed at Summerville, I'm itching to stay at the other bungalows as well. Thank you, Ceylon Tea Trails, for an amazing stay. My family has not stopped talking about their experience.

We went on the tour today at Dilmah led by Bernard Holsinger resident Planter with over 55 years experience. Bernard has a knack of sharing information through stories. His extensive knowledge was obvious we have been on several tea tours and this was by far and away the best. Great location, excellent tour thank you Bernard for sharing your knowledge with us. Could not recommend this tour highly enough 10 out of 10

All staff aimed to exceed expectations but especially the wonderful butlers at the bungalows. We were made to feel special and as we visited the different bungalows, immediately felt "at home" at each one. Spectacular surrounds, stunning rooms, so much food! What a unique place in the world and an experience we will never forget.

Stunning stay at Tea Trails Castlereagh bungalow, looked after by the excellent Singh and team. Singh is always there when you have a question and nothing is too much trouble! Fantastic service, food and the location speaks for itself. All of the staff are brilliant, friendly and professional, but special thanks to Aruna and Wasantha whose knowledgeable and enthusiastic guiding made our walks even more pleasurable. It is billed as a home from home - if only our home was as nice as this! We will definitely return.
