The Castle

The location was good as not too far from city centre. There was parking. We were shown to our room and were told there was tea, coffee and cereals for breakfast as well as bread. We had emailed then a few times informing about my mum being gluten intolerant but they did not reply. When we turned up we told them again and the person said its the manager who deals with requests. Luckily we took some food for breakfast with us. They provided soap for washing up but did not provide washing up sponges and kitchen roll. The beds were not comfortable. The shower was not very clean. They did not clean our room which meant that rubbish was being piled up and no bins to use outside so the room smelt. The staff did not check to see if we were ok. They should have advertised as self catering as we didn't have a good choice of breakfast and bought our own.

So my auntie and uncle came to Norfolk for the first time and stayed here for 3 nights .. The room stank of damp and the room wasn’t cleaned well at all. The flooring was dirty, almost smelt of being wet and damp… The toaster was dirty, kettle was full of lime scale and the smell was unbearable. We were told on arrival that anything that needed to be replenished would be upon request…. We asked and on a number of occasions they asked for tea, coffee, sugar and toilet roll to be replenished and nothing was… they were “Too busy”. The bins weren’t emptied, no phone to call anyone, no where to empty the bins ourselves…. Shocking… The outside area had a little table and one chair? Makes perfect sense right? Only advantage, was location and air con…. Overall, shocking stay, staff couldn’t be bothered to help or clean…. And we ain’t staying here again….

We stayed in Room no 1 which was facing a very busy roundabout, once inside we didn't notice the traffic noise. Clean comfortable room with much appreciated air conditioning, TV, small kitchen area and addiquate bathroom, staff very friendly in the bar, would definitely go back as enjoyed our stay.

Wouldn’t stay here again…. Bed had not been changed from last occupant, very dusty headboard and the wall behind the bed was dusty and cobwebs occupied the corners. However nice breakfast selection. Unfortunately that is all I have to say.

We were more than happy with the facilities and the breakfast provided in each “unit”I actually much preferred this set up to a traditional b & b hotel. Very spacious, everything you needed. Not much in the way of human interaction or information, maybe a little note in room to state what to do in check out, taxi numbers, how to use coffee machine etc… Also it would be nice to see a shampoo/ body wash in shower even if on a refill system so people don’t just take the travel sizes. Not much in the way of parking and not quite as the pictures portray, however for the price for one night it suited our needs. If we are planning a night out in Norwich we would happily use again. Also barman must have been on his first shift, but very friendly and helpful even if he wasn’t totally aware of the process.
