Splendor Inn Bed & Breakfast

We had a wonderful stay at Splendor Inn! Chris was very accommodating to us, letting us arrive after check-in time and an early breakfast to boot! Our room was very comfortable, nice and quiet. We enjoyed the coffee and water that was out all the time for guests. Breakfast was eggs cooked to order, english muffin, yogurt, hash browns and coffee - the perfect way to start the day!

The Splendor Inn Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Norwich, New York, not far from Cooperstown. The proprietor, Chris was an outstanding host. Texting us on the day of arrival, he was sure to be available in accordance with our time schedule. Our room was clean, comfortable, and very reasonably priced. The breakfast was sufficient to begin each day. (We were there 3 days.) We would definitely stay there again if we were touring that part of upstate New York. Highly recommended.

A solid 4.5 if that was possible. Splendor Inn provided a very good home base for a recent visit for a family funeral, and just a few items would have made it a solid 5. We loved the comfy and inviting living room with TV and magazines. Parking was convenient off street. The location was near everything we needed. Do go to the Wild Owl for dinner, just a few blocks' stroll. Our room, #2, was spacious and well outfitted with a large private bath, tv, lots of drawer and closet space, and a chair to read in. The decor was comfy and seasonal, and suited the history of the home. Breakfast both mornings was just right--made to order omelets for him, scrambled for me, with toast and fruit options. The English breakfast tea was exactly right. We really enjoyed chatting with the other guests over a relaxed breakfast, served 8-9 am, and not being rushed out. Chris and Ann are accommodating hosts! The door code made it easy to come and go. Our host was phappy to chat, yet not intrusive. The 2nd floor guest area with mini fridge, Keurig, and bottled water was appreciated. A few minor things slightly impacted our rating. Our room, which fronted the street, was quite bright--great in the daytime, flooded with natural light from windows on 2 sides--but the blinds and light-colored curtains did not block light at night. The green shag carpet could do with an update. When shown to our room on day 1 there was an strong odor of...air freshener? cleaning product? Due to mild temps we were able to air it out but it lingered for the first day, although we didn't smell it anywhere else in the house. We highly recommend Wild Owl just down the street for friendly and professional service, and excellent cuisine and beer/wine choices. The Splendor Inn is a very good in-town choice that with a few tweaks would be excellent.

If you're searching for a really comfortable stay while visiting or traveling through North-Central New York, this place is lovely. I recently spent three nights there while visiting my brother at the nearby Veterans Home. Chris and Ann are thoughtful hosts, glad to help with getting familiar with the house as well the town of Norwich, offering suggestions for dinner and answering any questions. A really appreciated touch is finding a little room upstairs for helping yourself to a chilled bottle of water or coffee & tea, available for early risers or evening tea . Plus there's homemade welcome cookies! The full breakfast was remarkable, definitely a great beginning to your morning. I've been traveling here for over five years to spend time with my brother and somehow missed this spot. This will be my go-to lodging in the future. I recommend it highly! PS: If you're looking for a spot for fall color, you'll find it going in any direction!

I've never felt so comfortable in someone else's home. It made me want to move to Norwich. Entirely peaceful, charming, cozy, and relaxing. The hosts are genial and have perfected the right balance of attentiveness (my, what a great breakfast!) and respect for the privacy, ease, and independence of their guests.

Gorgeous classical decoration, nice environment, confortable beds and spacious rooms, superb home-made breakfast and 24h complimentary coffe, fruit and cookies.
