The Langham Hotel

Or perhaps Rough & Ready. The hotel is comfortable, warm and clean and their cooked breakfast is a good start to the day. Ideal for a cheap overnight stop. The decor does look tired but if they spent a lot doing it up the prices would go up. It's within walking distance of the town centre, there's a good Indian restaurant a couple of hundred yards away, and the parking area at the back of the hotel is secure. Don't expect luxury, but you do get value for money.

The hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment. It should really be called a B&B as the restaurant only serves breakfast, with a choice of cereal, toast and a full English option. For me the cooked breakfast was very greasy and didn't match the menu. Yes, it's a budget hotel and you get what you pay for, but the two rooms we booked had no iron, ironing board, hairdryer or sink plugs - if they aren't available take them off the room details or advise that you need to bring them with you. Other issues we had were TV remote not working, bedside cabinets in a different part of the room, shower head dirty and held together with electrical tape and a screw (which was probably inside a door stopper) sticking out of the bathroom floor (Rm 16). There were some very unpleasant smells from the toilet/drains in the bathroom. The car park is very difficult to find and the track to it is full of potholes and very, very narrow. We couldn't speak to anybody about our issues when we checked out as reception was closed, with a request to leave keys on the counter in front of the grill, which made me very nervous. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

the room smelt strongly of bleach, the heating was on high & unable to adjust or turn off, no hair dryer or iron even though it was stated that they were in the room. no glasses in the bath room, the shower was powerless & not very hot & the shower screen collapsed, Breakfast... full English had missing items & I asked for poached egg on toast & was given a fry up of sorts... when the breakfast was corrected the egg was rock hard....

Poor condition and cleanliness of bathroom. For example shower head full of limescale and mould around shower screens. I could not use. Breakfast was paid for in advance with booking. When I went for breakfast at 08.55 I was told by the waitress that breakfast was not served after 08.45. Despite the cook available also the tables still had cereal and bowls on the tables. I went to reception to check out and there was nobody available. In fact the security grills were shut so the key was pushed through a slot.

Clearly a family ran hotel. Decor slightly dated, but also part of the hotel’s original character. Very pleased that we had a fridge & a fan in the room. Hotel owners were polite & efficient in serving a good hearty breakfast. Great value for money, ideally placed for travelling to & from Silverstone circuit. Secluded on site parking, Local restaurants & bars within walking distance.

It's not the fanciest hotel by any means but it was spotlessly clean and the man on reception was helpful and very friendly and worked exceptionally hard. Location wise it's perfect, about a 15 minute walk into town, there's a small car park out the back. Breakfast was very tasty with a few choices. The only thing I would say wasn't great was the bed and pillows weren't the comfiest also the room was extremely hot but we were there on one of the hottest days of the year!
