Eastern Slope Inn Resort

We had a great stay as always. Rooms were clean, and comfy as usual. We have been coming for many years. Haven from maintenance was Amazing, personable, delivered anything and everything we asked for. He went over and above for us. Thank you Haven for all you did to make our stay great.

Take my advice and DO NOT STAY HERE! You can tell that this used to be a beautiful old and historic hotel. The only thing it has going for it now is its location. First off, my friend made a reservation for a room with two queen beds, she then got an email saying that a standard. Queen room was reserved. She wanted to make sure that the correct room type was reserved so she called and called. She finally got a message saying that reservations were closed (this was around 7 pm maybe). She then called the Front Desk asking if they could help. Gentleman who answered said that he could see a King Bed was reserved? She explained that was not correct - he said he could not help and to call in the morning. She did so and the person on the phone said sorry you have a King Room - even though they had sent her a confirm with the Queen. My friend said we need the two queens and the woman at the hotel said we will have one but you will have to pay more for it ?! We checked in on the 19th and my friend asked the front desk person if they could do anything about the cost since again, it was their error and that person was not helpful at all and said nothing I can do. Then we were told “Parking is just anywhere - good luck finding a spot”. The parking lot was dark as anything with barely any lighting. The room was sub standard at best. Light between the beds was broken - TV had many channels out and the A/C barely worked (it was unseasonably warm that night). Also they have no restaurant on site for breakfast and were again, less than helpful with asking where to go. Overall again - just skip this place. It is WAY overpriced and the staff seems to care less about helping people. What a disappointment??

The beds were actually really comfortable. They felt newish in that the mattresses were even and not lumpy. Multiple pillows for you to find your comfort zone. Our room had the train tracks right out back. The novelty wore off pretty quickly as they move and whistle a lot during the day. Still nice to see though. The trails are a-mazing! Ignore the beautiful surroundings, they aren't overwhelming for a non-climber like me. Well marked, easy to get to, cool stuff to see and just right there. Our room were spotless.

We stayed in a deluxe studio apt near the RR tracks along with a view of the mountains. Train doesn’t start early or end late so no need to worry about noise. Also no noise from other units. Place was spotless and has everything you need. Full kitchen, washer, dryer, etc including all soap, laundry detergent, etc. Fire pit is a nice touch.

A nice resort. Large unit. We had a view of the pond and trees across the parking lot. Small balconies off each room (we had a deluxe 1BR that could be used as a lockoff or, I think, connected to the adjacent unit to make a two or three bedroom combo). Conway always has traffic. Barley and Salt (restaurant off-site) was very good. The only “downside” is that the heat for the unit was provided by a gas fireplace. That means you really can’t use it for “ambience”; not a fireplace in the “traditional” (decorative) sense. We were foliage viewing, so we didn’t use any of the resort amenities, and we were only there for a few days. We would certainly come back.

Great location with full amenities including an onsite restaurant. Plenty to see and do in the area with fun shops within walking distance. Close to Kancamagus Hwy and lots of scenic drives for fall foliage. Have stayed at Eastern Slope Inn several times and look forward to staying again in the future.

The murphy bed was extremely comfortable with amazingly fluffy pillows. I had the best night sleep of my trip there. The towels were plentiful, and the room had all the amenities we needed (coffee, soaps, washer/dryer, refrigerator, stovetop, and microwave).

It's clear this was a nice hotels 20+ years ago, but deferred maintenance keeps it from being a nice hotel now. We checked in and we're given keys, but then as we were about to go get our bags to go to the room we were told the room wasn't ready yet. Went to Flatbread to eat while we waited, but waited at some table for over 10 minutes without our server coming to greet us and decided to eat elsewhere. Went to the pool in the evening with our kids and the pool room and water smelled awful (not like chlorine, more like feces). We had a townhouse room and when we went to go to bed the second floor was sweltering - we tried putting the kids to bed, but it was so hot that our 9 month old was just screaming. We tried everything to cool down the room - heat off, AC on (theres an option on the thermostatupstairs for AC, but it clearly doesn't work, so we had the downstairs AC cranked up), windows open (it's October in Maine so that alone should cool a room). Called down to the front desk to ask if there was a trick to the AC or something we hadn't figured out yet, they quickly mentioned a box fan in the closet and told us to put it in the doorway facing down the stairs, so this heat issue is clearly a recurrent problem. Instead of fixing the heat issue, they bought box fans and called it a day. It was 75 in the room and with everything we tried we only ever got it down to 73. The kids and I slept downstairs on the full size Murphy bed, while my husband toughed it out upstairs in the heat. I mentioned the heat issue again at checkout and while the employee was very nice about it, he did not offer any sort of compensation or anything to make up for the awful experience.

Stately, old school resort hotel with nice amenities. Excellent location, friendly staff, and good parking. Walkable all over Conway. We stayed for one night while on our foliage road trip but could have stayed longer for sure. I'd also recommend not missing out on the unusual attraction of nearby Madison Boulder!
