Bella Nilaveli Beach

We spent a wonderful week in pineapple house at Bella nilaveli with our 6 year old son. It was ideal as it had a separate room for him and it was literally steps to the swimming pool so we could sit on the patio and watch him (he would happily stay in the pool all day). Staff were so welcoming and friendly from the start. The swimming pool is nice and clean and a perfect temperature. We spent a lot of time in it during our stay. The beautiful nilaveli beach is two minutes walk away. We enjoyed our walks along the beach, playing in the waves and trying out some of the beach restaurants. The food at Bella nilaveli is also delicious and we very much enjoyed the breakfast spreads. We also went to pigeon island (trip organised by Bella). It was wonderful. We were allowed plenty of time to snorkel as much as we wanted. I would highly recommend bella to anyone and it was perfect for our family.

Very relaxed resort. High quality staff, especially Dusan and Amgie. The chef Shan made every day delicious dishes with fresh ingredients they mostly grow themselves by gardener Nadan. Fine room; bathroom could use some renovation. Close to the beach and the pool is fabulous!

We were really excited to stay here however we were slightly disappointed with the lack of attention to detail. Overall the bed was comfortable and the location was excellent. The breakfast was delicious, made fresh for each table and available at a time that suited us. The shower was good and had hot water, and we really enjoyed the bathroom being outside. The staff were attentive to our needs and dealt with any request we had without a hitch. We really liked having the pool too and being a small complex meant that it was always calm and quiet around the pool. We really loved that the 5 cats and a dog were really well cared for and clearly enjoyed being around the guests. The room left us feeling a little disheartened. The bed nets had holes in them and one was patched up with a plaster - that's right, a band aid. The sheets were old and worn, I could clearly see two worn patches from the couples who had stayed here before us. The fridge was dirty, smelled and had dead ants inside. The room was incredibly dark and the only mirror was above the sink outside. This didn't have a light above it and so getting ready to go out was really hard. The number of mosquitos in the room was astounding. We killed as many as we could, luckily had our own plug-in repellent and a bed net (with holes) and were bitten more here than our entire trip in Sri Lanka, including when we were in the jungle. I tried to open the curtain on our first day and the whole pole came tumbling down on top of me. The original wooden pole had been replaced with a light weight plastic pipe which fell EVERY time you tried to open or close the curtains. There was no wifi in the room, this was only available at the restaurant and around the pool. On 3/6 of the days we were here, the wifi data had run out and we were not able to use the wifi for most of the day. On one of the days there was a powercut and so we were unable to use it on this day either. It's important to note that we're not huge users of data and simply wanted to go on social media or message family but were unable to do so because other guests were using it do stream. It would probably be wise to just get a better plan that reaches all of the rooms with more data. One morning we were awoken at 6:30am because someone was sweeping our veranda. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in Nilaveli and the location couldn't have been better. We thought that Bella Nilaveli was going to be luxury without the luxury price tag and we've come away feeling like the owners need to spend a few nights in the room to identify what's missing.

This is the most amazing place to stay in Nilavelli. It is an oasis of calm with cabins surrounding a lovely clean swimming pool. The gardens were beautiful and well maintained. There is a nice eating area where we sat and chatted with other guests. Anjay is the manager and he does a great job and is so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was perfect and we also at there two nights which was also fantastic, Tea was brought to our chalet with our balcony overlooking the pool. It is such a beautiful relaxing place and such good value. Anjay organised a really good driver Farzid to take us around Trinco at a very good price,

Great value for money. The staff were so helpful. They arranged a whale watching tour at short notice and gave us detailed directions for getting the bus for Sigiriya. Friendly dogs and cats. Perfect location, almost on the beach. Very clean pool & some of the best food we've had in Sri Lanka!

For our first time we visit Sri Lanka, this cosy family run hotel near the beach was the perfect place to start and learn to know the way of life in Sri Lanka. Anna was very helpful in preparing our arrival. Arriving there after a very long flight and car trip by night from Colombo, we were welcomed by Amjee who made us feel comfortable from the start. It felt great to settle down by the beach and have a great breakfast with fresh passion fruit (straight from the patio into our plate). Staff was always very helpful, even if we asked to get up extra early because we wanted to go and see whales for 5 consecutive days, thank you again for that. We were in the Mango hut, very cosy and a nice place to hide from the Srilankan heat (airco available :-) ) . After our daily diving routine, it was great to enjoy some drinks (superb fresh juices and the "Lion") and great food! We were happy to be part of the birthday party of Sameera! And it was fun to play some chess with little Leo. We hope to be back !
