AC Hotel Newtown Square

If you want to feel like you are staying in military barracks this is the hotel for you. It is cold, minimalist and POOR service. We left our 3 rooms and upon leaving we saw housekeeping and told her we were leaving for the day that she could make up our room and not have to hurry. We returned at 9:30 p.m. to find the rooms not made up, no towels etc. What a terrible place to stay for a Thanksgiving weekend. Never again.

We checked in on October 20 in the evening and the receptionist was less than friendly. Then our room lacked coffee cups and Kleenex. This hotel doesn’t offer daily maid service and we were never informed. The air/heater system was very loud and we had to turn it off to be able to sleep. The room is not soundproofed and you could hear lots of noise from the floor above and from outside. The shower leaked into the bathroom and the shower valve was defective. There is no closet in the room. There is a pole jutting into the room for you to hang your clothes on. I’m guessing this saves a few dollars in construction costs but is not exactly esthetic. There were 4 chargers for electric cars but no signage for the two in the main parking area indicating that they were for electric cars so there were nonelectric cars parked there. The other two were in the handicap spots. This must check off two boxes for the hotel but is totally useless for charging unless you also happen to be handicapped. The only saving grace was the bed was comfortable.

New hotel with a luxury-modern feel. Very clean and well appointed rooms. Hotel rooms on the smaller side but comfortable linens and good size bathroom. Bar area is open and inviting with a European touch. Parking lot well lit at night and location is great. Nearby proximity to restaurants and smoothie bar if you choose to leave hotel for meals. Hotel prices on accomodations and food are a bit high but overall good value. I recommend this hotel and would stay again.

I had high hopes for the AC Hotel Newtown Square, especially since it was recently opened. The location is excellent. The rooms were quiet and the bed was comfortable. Now, onto the problems. Most problematic of all, there are zero outlets available in the entrance-way where the only mirror is located. Since the shower is clear glass, this means that if someone is taking a shower, there is no other place for someone to use a hairdryer or other electrical hair appliances to get ready. This was an unexpected problem for us. The chair at the desk is terribly uncomfortable. I wish I had taken a photo, but imagine a severe, right-angled, almost unpadded gray chair (without wheels), and that's what was in the room at the desk. I could not get any work done at the desk due to how painful the chair was on my back. The bathroom had no lotion (not even a large pump bottle). There were a lot of long, brown hairs on the bathroom floor when we initially entered the bathroom and there were no tissues (or even an empty tissue box) in the tissue box holder. Finally, the hotel has a lovely coffee machine in the lobby, but apparently that is only to be used by guests who order a full breakfast in the restaurant.
