Balavil Hotel

We are just back from a two night stay at the Balavil and cannot rate the hotel or staff high enough. We had a lovely clean room. The bathrooms have just been renovated and look amazing. We had a chance to use the pool facilities and they were very clean and the pool was a great temperature for us and our young children. They even provided swim aids for the kids when requested as we hadn't thought to bring them. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and the food was delicious and service was friendly. They were happy to offer advice on things to do whenever asked. Overall a wonderful stay and will definitely be back again!

First time at this hotel . Definitely deserve 5 Star , accommodation superb rooms , highly trained staff , food best breakfast, service with attention to detail Excellent . Cant wait to return . Can not say any more , just excellent , excellent

Last minute stop over on way further North. An excellent hotel. Staff could not have been nicer. Food was tremendous. I had sea food trio salad,which was lovely and IMO reasonable price. My soup as a starter was very homely. My partner is vegan this Hotel is on the ball as they had a menu for Vegan. She thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a few drinks in the bar. Plenty of whisky choices. Plenty of rum selections. Breakfast was basic but very good choice. In summary this was a great choice. We will 100% use again. Oh and newtonmore is a lovely stop over. Thanks for making us welcome and comfortable.

We visited in early April when the West Highlands had not really opened for the season. On the way home we stayed for one night in Newtonmore (and immediately wished we had planned for more). It’s a pretty village with plenty outdoors possibilities. The Balavil was quiet, so the staff had time to interact with guests, starting with James, who welcomed us like returning regulars and gave us a room upgrade (on top of the decent online rate). The room was very comfortable and the evening meal was excellent. We didn’t come prepared to use the hotel pool, but that will be for the next time. The Balavil still preserves its Victorian spaciousness, combined with modern rooms with up-to-date facilities, and clearly deserves its excellent online reviews. It does what it does very well; the only thing I would change would be the breakfast coffee - cafetière please.

The hotel was the perfect get away for a couples weekend. The location is perfect for all local amenities and easy travel to Aviemore and Inverness, a great base for a highland retreat. The food was exceptional and the staff were all very nice and helpful. The facilities were great and the swimming pool has recently been refurbished, it was beautiful. The bar area with open fire was very cosy and had a huge selection of drinks including local whiskey. We will definitely come back here. Thanks for a great stay

Homely Well Run hotel, excellent food, terrific staff. The team led by James, including Isla, David, Mark, and young Logan were very professional and friendly. The room whilst small, was more than adequate, and it had a new walk in shower in the en-suite.We had a great time, and I would definitely recommend this wee hotel.
