Courtyard New Bern

I normally don’t comment about the staff. Until I encountered this clerk here. She is the absolute rudest clerk I have ever encountered. Room was nice. And clean. I managed hotels and would never her in front line. Mess my day up. From the start when I saw her yelling at maintenance about the door not working in front of guest. Your front line people should not be like that. Night shift was very very very pleasant. Maybe even a bit much. lol. But I would rather that than this lady. I asked if the pool was open 3 times. She never looked up. I am still not sure if she had ear buds in. But she never looked up. This interaction with her REALLY REALLY GAVE ME A SOUR TASTE. the hotel is nice. The balcony. And everything. But this lady made me feel I was not welcome here.

Comfortable rooms at an affordable rate, and located within walking distance of downtown New Bern. Right on the water, and only a couple minute walk to the New Bern Convention Center. The staff was friendly and the rooms were all well maintained. There's a restaurant on site, so breakfast is not included in the reservation.

Beautiful location and everything you need in a hotel for a business trip. Great gazebo down on the river and a pool to enjoy the view. Very convenient location for exploring New Bern. A great place to stay while you’re in town for pleasure or business.

Front desk lady when checking in was very helpful. Bartender was more worried about informing everyone when food stopped being served and when the bar closes then quickly serving them. Took me 15 minutes to get a drink. She was very pleasant, but could use some Bar/hospitality training. Drink was good, got wings they were good, just a tad salty, my wife got the quinoa salad and she loved it. Draft beer was not working and they had no cold glasses for bottled beer. Which probably means they do not have them for draft either. Hotel was clean, well kept and in neat location on the river. Pool and poll area was nice and had great view. Room was comfortable, clean and inviting. Saw a water bug in bathroom, but overall cleanliness was good. Staff I encountered during my stay were very polite and accommodating

This hotel has a great view and is right in the middle of downtown New Bern. Parking is ample, the rooms are larger than most Courtyards and it has a nice bar/restaurant area. The hotel is in need of a remodel...but knowing Marriott that is probably already in the works. Would stay here again.

We have stayed at this hotel on two other occasions when picking our daughter up from camp. The other two stays were fine, but this one was not. Our stay on June 15th, prior to dropping our daughter off at camp, was not good. We were assigned room 124 at check-in. This is the only guest room on the same side of the hall as the hotel laundry facility. You should NOT sell this room, period. The noise from the laundry center is very disruptive; there is a regular 15-second high-pitched noise every 45 seconds that is emitted from the laundry machines when they are in use. You can even hear the housekeeping staff having conversations through the wall! The laundry center was active from just before 7:00 am until early evening. I did not request a 7:00 am wake-up call, but that is effectively what I got due to the noise coming through the shared wall. Additionally, on the evening of June 15th, when we returned to the hotel from dinner, our keys did not work, nor did the master key when the front desk staff attempted to open the door. They had to call the off-site maintenance man to come to the property to attempt to work on the lock system; it was approximately 40 minutes before he arrived. In that time I asked the front desk to enable my mobile key on my Marriott app so that I could try that, they were initially dismissive certain that if their master key did now work there was no way the app would work. WELL.... I tried the app, and low and behold, the lock OPENED! Good news after 20 mins we got in the room, bad news keys still did not work. After another 20 mins the maintenance man came, he told me the lock would have to be reprogrammed and that he could not do that until the next day. He was apologetic, but come on, Marriott, get it together; if you are going to use RFID technology, make sure it works. I was offered no compensation at check out for the noise or the key issue. The lady at the front desk the night before was very nice and tried to be helpful, but she was clearly overwhelmed as the only staff member on duty at the time. We are stuck staying here again in July when we come back to pick our daughter up from camp. I hope that visit is better than the last and more like our first two stays. DO NOT SELL ROOM 124; turn it into a housekeeping or laundry office; it is unprofessional to place a guest in a room where they can not have quiet enjoyment of the room.

Nice hotel, great walking distance to everything. Prices are high in the summer. Downtown is very close. Restaurants, brewery everything close. Don't miss Brewery 99 in the parkinglot of the downtown coffee shop. Don't miss Brewery 99!!

Nice location and view and a decent shower but one of the worst run and most rundown Courtyards we have encountered over many years. Signed up for 3 nights but after two days of trying to get the helpless and uncaring front desk people to arrange to provide us with a fully functional TV, we gave up and left a day early. The structure itself as well as our room are sorely in need of renovation. We won't be staying there again.

This Courtyard is in a nice location on the river in New Bern. The historic town is easy walking distance. I was upgraded to a room overlooking the river which I appreciated. The room is fine but I wish Marriott had brighter lights. We have a tiny balcony which is nice. Be forewarned that the seagulls are cacophonous. We grabbed wine at the Bistro. The wine list is in flux. The food is typical bistro fare but many restaurants are a short walk away. I guess I just don't get the courtyard business model without free breakfast, happy hour or even water bottles. But I'm using points so definitely the best option!
