Ar Men Du, Hôtel & Restaurant Gastronomique

Fantastic postion and we had a gale blowing so the views where brillant. They speak perfect English and had menus in English. Service is first class, venue is perfect, wine list is on a iPad. We went for the five course menu plus a few extras came with it. The scallops were so fresh and we had goose barnacles(percedes). Lobster raviolis where very tasty but pasta was too thick and tough. They said the monkfish was cooked to fifty degrees but it sat on a jelly which it did not melt. Dish was tasteless and the monkfish was like cottonwood.This was the only faults, the veal fillet with veal oxtail was sublime. The two desserts where to die for and we look forward to returning next year.

As we approach the time of the Tour de France, I am reminded of the term HC, or Beyond Category. In an age in which we are encouraged to write quick and superficial critiques of everything we buy or use, it is wise to reflect on what is really important. Ar Men Du respects its harsh but beautiful landscape. It provides much in the way of comfort without clashing with its environment. By definition, tourists keep moving on. But rarely you encounter places that remain in your consciousness and compel you to return. As with a lovely piece of music, playing it is one thing, playing it well is another. There is considerable insight and hard work in establishing and maintaining a hotel like Ar Men Du. One could make a few minor criticisms, but the overall experience here is magnificent. Most everyone in the hotel business believes in welcoming their guests. It's the ones that do so naturally, with great enthusiasm, that you remember. There is that spirit here. The setting is inspiring, whether you are physically active, reflective or both. While the wifi may be sketchy, this should be a time to understand where you are and why. There is some delightful local art work on display, and some for sale. The restaurant is memorable. The staff is hard working and congenial. This is a place and experience to savor.

Great spot - you reach it, you cannot drive further, you will fall in the sea. Pretty small, intimate hotel with a great team in place to run it. A short stay but worth the detour in beautiful Brittany . Top restaurant where cuisine is inventive and using local & organic products. Interesting to see... the Big boss is on the floor helping to run the show... You don't see that often nowadays ! .... Stay there and enjoy!

Une superbe découverte grâce au site solidaire. solikend. Un emplacement exceptionnel dans un petit coin de paradis en bord de mer. Le personnel est au top et la nourriture excellente. Vous avez de très belles balades à faire au pied de l’hôtel pour faire le GR34

Nous avons passé un week très sympa à l AR MEN DU. Dès notre arrivée, l'accueil chaleureux du patron a instauré une atmosphère agréable. Le personnel s'est montré attentif, anticipant nos moindres besoins avec sourire et professionnalisme. Très bonne table ! Un gastro qui mérite ses récompenses. Nous avons pris le menu GLENAN Chaque plat était une explosion de saveurs, préparé avec des produits frais, de saison et locaux. La présentation des assiettes trop canon, et la sommelière nous a conseillé des vins parfaitement accordés aux mets. Nous avons été émerveillés par la créativité du chef et l'attention portée à chaque détail. La chambre pas très grande. Elle est vieillissante mais impeccable. Très bonne literie et la vue depuis notre fenêtre était TOP bien dégagée. Je vous conseille de réserver une suite et c'est ce que nous ferons la prochaine fois pour plus de confort. Bref une expérience unique. Je recommande cet établissement à tous ceux comme nous qui veulent s'offrir une pause en bord de mer.

Pour notre séjour, nous avions retenu leur offre package "escale gourmande - vue mer " avec nuit et diner 5 plats. Accueil très souriant dans une maison en bord d'une côte magnifique. Chambre plutôt petite, mais très propre avec une bonne literie. Accès gratuit au systeme de recharge électrique de notre voiture. Diner impeccable: suite de plats gouteux avec des mariages de saveurs surprenants, service efficace et aimable et sans ostentation; très bon conseil pour le vin. Petit déjeuner en terrasse couverte avec belle vue sur la côte (mais table branlante); un peu déçus par la variété et la saveur des produits proposés. Nous nous attendions à des pains et pâtisseries du même niveau que ceux qui nous avaient été servis au diner la veille; il n'en a malheureusement rien été. Café médiocre. Grosse surprise au moment de régler notre note: la tisane qui nous avait été proposée en même temps que les mignardises de fin de diner n'était pas "gratuite". A 6€ le verre d'eau chaude avec des herbes du jardin, cela fait un peu chère pour la mise en scène de la "cérémonie du thé". Une information aurait pu nous être donnée avant que nous acceptions (en toute connaissance de cause). Pour un établissement de cette qualité, je considère cela comme un petit raté
