Star Beach Guest House

My wife and I booked our stay here for the last two nights of our Sri Lanka holiday. What a little gem it is. Only a 5 minute tuk tuk drive from Negombo bus terminal. We had come up on the AC highway bus from Galle. We arrived for breakfast and we had complimentary breakfasts while they got our room ready, even though we were early by a couple of hours. The staff were super helpful and very efficient. The breakfasts are great, I recommend the fruit pancakes. There is a small swimming pool but the beach is just a hop skip and a jump away: a minutes walk. It's not the most pristine beach, but I swam each day with no nasty after affects. There are a few restaurants and bars with free loungers on the beach, if you just prefer to sun bath and watch the katamarams ( The Tamil word for them) and the men fishing for prawns. Just a minutes walk up the lane and you are on the main road . Here there are plenty of places to eat and have a coffee or something stronger. All are very reasonably priced. We were glad we had an extra night here and did not have to rush around to get to the airport. Plenty of tuk tuks are on the main road and we got one for 2,000 rs to take us and our cases to the airport. All very straightforward .

Only had 1 night at Star Beach and wished we had more. Brilliant location and such a pretty place with a pool right on the beach. Staff were all amazing and we felt really welcomed here. Excellent value for money if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Negombo.

Perfect location, with a lovely swimming pool, you can be in the pool and gaze across the sand to the azure blue Indian ocean, or watch the local lads play cricket on the beach. All very serious stuff. The staff are wonderfully helpful and caring, nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant is good with a reasonable choice. They even arranged 'sri lankan' breakfast for my wife. The pool and surroundings are cleaned every day, and are always spotlessly clean. The hotel is close enough to the many restaurants and shops on Lewis Place to walk , but situated back from the road to be a peaceful retreat. Recommended, yes 100%, we have already booked to return next year, excellent value.

Very nice hotel right at the beach with a swimming pool. Friedly staff. Lots of TV channels, good A/C, hot water during daytime (Solar). Local and western breakfast. Some places to eat around this hotel. We did not like the strong smell coming from the bathroom sometimes. Need a good big fan. We had small one, but the best room with sea view and balcony. I got electric kettle to heat up some water for my herbal drink..
