The County Hotel

This is an iconic building dating back to 1909 and being one of the few original art deco buildings still in its original form. Inside this boutique chic hotel and the olde worlde charm is evident in the decor, paintings and woodwork. The welcome from Angela and her team is extremely warm and friendly. The bedroom was spacious, the bed firm and luxurious. The ensuite was clean, functional and well presented. Upstairs is a small library where one can relax and read in peace and quiet. Nice touch. Angela has spent considerable time ensuring that even the small things have been attended to, such as taps, door handles, etc. Luvved it. Extremely comfortable and THE perfect base to wander and peruse the shops, bars and cafes all within easy walking distance. We will only stay here in our future visits.

A beautiful Art Deco hotel in the centre of Napier, on the same street as the Museum and Art Deco centre. Clean and comfortable inside and the hotel restaurant ( Churchills) was fabulour. I normal avoid the restaurants located at places I stay, but the menu was tempting and did not disappoint.

We were warmly welcomed by the lovely manager, Angela, and taken to our room where our welcome pack awaited us. Packed with yummy treats, chocolates, fruit and wine! The room was spacious with many Art deco features and the bed very comfortable. The hotel has been refurbished completely in character and one can sit and enjoy the free port provided in the library or play the organ or grand piano while soaking up the significant atmosphere of this building. Despite being transported to yesteryear the hotel provides modern amenities when they are needed, double glazing and three head shower as well as spa bath. I highly recommend upgrading to the spa room if you can. We enjoyed the generous included beverages provided and the meal we enjoyed in the hotels restaurant was top class. ( see photos) Thank you to all the staff at The County who made our stay such a great experience. Angela is always on hand to help out and provided advice on where to eat, tourist info etc.

We thoroughly enjoyed the courteous and helpful staff and Host,Angela.The homely atmosphere extended to the use of a comfortable library and complementary port in the evening.Very comfortable bed.We were fortunate to get a top floor room,with sea views and private balcony,central CBD location without doubt is a bonus. Wonderful 3 nights loved the detail in the hotel decor it was stunning. Can’t fault anything Angela and Richard were the perfect hosts and their attention to detail was superb. Breakfast was exceptional. Look forward to returning.thanks
