Hemingways Nairobi

Wonderful hotel with amazing staff! When our luggage did not arrive before our safari, Evans picked us up from the airport, took us shopping two days in a row to get needed supplies, took us on a half day tour which was great as everyone knows him! We felt lots of special treatment! He is the kindest person and so helpful! The hotel is beautiful, the grounds immaculate, food was very good! Everyone was so willing to help us as we didn’t have luggage! Thank you for making our stay so special! We will stay here if ever in Nairobi again! Thank you Evans for everything!

This is the nicest place we have ever stayed and we’ve stayed in many places all around the United States. Everyone working at this hotel are so welcoming. It’s a beautiful , peaceful environment that makes one want to stay here the whole time and not go anywhere else. I am not exaggerating in the quality of food and care we have been given at Hemingway. If we ever return to Nairobi this is the only place we’d want to stay.

I only went to the restaurant and I it. I took a burger and Mac and cheese and they were a chefs kiss . It was my brothers birthday and he got a cake and it was amazing. If you want to have a birthday this is the place to go I would recommend.!!!!!!

This was our second visit to Hemingways Nairobi - we had enjoyed our previous stay, and couldn't imagine being anywhere else in Nairobi. This time, however, rather than go with the 80m² Deluxe Suite, we went for their top room, the gigantic Hemingways Suite. It consisted of a living room, a study room, bedroom and dining room, as well as two separate bathrooms, which always makes Mrs. KI-NRT happy. Regarding the room, there are a few things I'll ding them on. The first issue has to do with the light switch - it was impossible to figure out! Each room seemed to have at least a half dozen (if not more) switches that controlled everything from the lights to the fans. HOWEVER, the switches are not labeled, and some of them turn one light on, while others turn all of them on/off. There also seemed to be some switches that operated several lights but not some others. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and have never came across a more confusing set of switches than I have at Hemingways. Secondly - given the prices that they charge, the amenities are weak. No toothbrush, no lotion, not much of anything. We were there during a very cold spell, and we found the heating system was ineffective; it was cold in the room the entire time. We called the front desk and they sent over an technician to check it out, but we were told it's the best they can do. Because of that, we asked for additional bed cover/duvet. Unfortunately, the duvet was so heavy (just like the ones already on the bed) that Mrs. KI-NRT had trouble breathing (she's sleeps facing up.) For the prices that Hemingways charges, I would really hope the offered something of higher quality - light and warm would be nice. As before, we found the boutique resort-style ambiance to be charming and blood pressure reducing - the grounds are vast and well manicured, there's a large pool, a spa and indoor and outdoor dining facilities. Service is polished and graceful; we found the hospitality to be warm, friendly and relaxed, while still being on the ball. We had lunch in the restaurant, and the Club Sandwich was perfectly made - we're always surprised how many hotel restaurants can get one of the staple dishes so wrong. In spite of quite a few issues, we still maintain this is the top luxury choice in Nairobi. I do not think, however, that the Hemingways Suite is worth it. It's astronomically priced, and next time we would be more than happy with a Suite that did not have the type of elaborate dining room and study room found in the Hemingways Suite. And by then, we hope that management will have addressed the problems we encountered during our stay.

27-hours after leaving our home on the U.S. east coast, we arrived at Hemingways Nairobi. What a pleasant welcome it was! We were warmly greeted (at around midnight) and accompanied to our suite by our butler, or more of a U.S. personal concierge. Chilled fresh orange juice, a native fruit bowl and a half dozen beautiful yellow roses only added to the beauty of the space. A mural of zebras covers one wall, the elegant bath spans the space of a NYC apartment and includes a walk-in closet, soaring ceilings, huge four-poster bed and a sweeping balcony where we crashed to listen to the music of the animals talking to each other completed the comfort. It was so relaxing that we slept through breakfast. But, the serene spa called out. My husband got the gentleman’s facial and looks 10-years younger. I was rejuvenated by Elizabeth’s Savannah massage. Best massage I have ever had. Anywhere! Fresh Malindi fish for dinner, a lovely buffet breakfast in the morning (set the alarm so we didn’t sleep through!) So sorry to leave but we must catch up with our Oceanic Society group for our conservation trip. Luckily, it ends at Hemingways Watamu. Hemingways, we can’t think of a nicer introduction to Kenya!

The five star experience here was amazing. I was a female solo traveler that decided to come to Nairobi and spend a few days before Safari here. It was one of the best choices I have ever made. The grounds and the resort itself along with the accommodations were absolutely excellent. Rooms, large bathrooms, even larger and very well appointed. I can't say enough about the customer service and staff here. John and Cate at the Concierge desk met every need and went above and beyond. Really! Also drivers James and Rogers never left my side as we went out every day to different shops and museums and places I wanted to go. They were always by my side and if someone approached me, they jumped in valiantly. If you get here do not miss the opportunity to have AMY give you a scrub and a 90 minute massage in the spa. I have had massages all over the world and hers ranks the best. Gerald in the restaurant was so very nice and attentive, A+ service. If you see him tell him thank you. Also make sure that you get over to the other Hemingways Eden to see a larger assortment of clothing and a variety of shoes and gifts. Not to mention the resort is not at all like the Nairobi resort in Karen. A great experience if you are looking for something different. The hotel will take you there! Thank you Hemingways.

I cannot speak highly enough of Brian and his outstanding service at Hemingway's restaurant. He is a true asset to the team and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. Thank you, Brian, for your exceptional service! You made my bday awesome

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Hemingways Nairobi property and staff. Every single need was attended to, and our suite was absolutely amazing. The staff was so kind and friendly - The highlight of our stay was when we arranged transport to dinner with the hotel and spent our car ride there and back chatting with a man name Rodgers. It was truly as informative as our tour of Nairobi the following day, but through an authentic lens we may not have otherwise gotten. We looked for him the rest of our stay to thank him again for such a wonderful evening! We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the hotel on varying occasions and everything was delicious. We loved every second of our stay on this beautiful property, and couldn’t recommend it more highly.
