Hotel Continental - TonelliHotels

We picked this hotel based on the photos and reviews, but they didn’t match our experience. The hotel is away from the lake about a 20-25 minute walk, although the hotel does offer a shuttle bus. You can also get free local travel and entry to some attractions using the local Garda card. Just ask the reception team. The hotel is close the busy main road and noise was an issue. Traffic started very early in the morning. Internally you could hear everything from doors slamming, on-going conversations, to showers, all night. The rooms are basic but clean, definitely dated some might call retro. The food was not as expected. Breakfast was poor, no omelettes although the egg lady would make fresh fried eggs. If you got in after the coaches had left, the buffet had been obliterated by people making sandwiches for their trips home. Staff struggled to replenish this area. As for the evening meals we liked having a designated table, but it was just like being in a school canteen. It was overcrowded with no atmosphere, and if your starter was hot your main would be cold or vice versa. The menu was repetitive and certainly not the taste of Italy we were expecting. We loved the area around the lake. The hotel staff were helpful. Would we visit again, no this was not the family, authentic taste of Italy we were expecting.

Beautiful hotel. The staff are amazing, great team. All smiles and very attentive. Just a nice overall peaceful atmosphere. Food and drinks very nice. Breakfast great selection and dinner not a meal we haven’t liked. Location good nice views all the way up to the top. Hotel Shuttle bus to torbole where you can get ferry hotel is also outside bus stop taking you to near towns. Up in the hills so no busy roads just nice views. Good for walking and bikes. The Perfect Hotel, staff, food, wine, pool. The staff cannot do enough for you. The food is more like 5 ⭐️. Lorenzo just great & cocktails wonderful. The free mini bus to the lake service is outstanding & again run by lovely gentleman . Thanks for making my 60th B’day so special . GRAZIE ❤️

On arrival we were allocated our room and we asked about where we could go for lunch, we were told that everything in the area was shut and the only option was the pool bar, this was actually not true. We then went to our room we were really disappointed, the room was very dated and we had a view of scaffolding outside, our balcony was also over looked by at least 6 others. I had asked for a view of the lake but when we got to the hotel we quickly realised that there isn't a view of the lake. We asked to change rooms and to be fair we were offered another room to look at. This room was marginally better so we took it. Some of the staff were really friendly and helpful but most were not very helpful at all and most of the time there was no one sat on reception because they were outside having a cigarette. It didn't help that there wasn't a TUI rep at out hotel (not the hotels fault I know). We had to find everything out about the area ourselves, there is nothing in your room giving you any information about the hotel or the area. There is a shuttle bus that takes you down to the main village of Torbole at 9am and 10am and picks you up again at 4pm (we only found this out when we asked). You can walk but its is incredibly steep and feels like more than 2km. Again I had to ask about this, but reception can give you a bus pass which means you can travel free on the bus in the local area, the buses run much more frequently, reception have a copy of the timetable and on request also let us have a copy of the ferry timetable. We wanted to hire a car but that was near on impossible and as for taxis, they are very few and far between. This hotel is very remote and due to the transport issues/buses only run until a certain time, you couldn't go out at night which was really disappointing. Drinks were very reasonably priced and the main bar man was very happy and friendly. We actually didn't rate the food very much. Breakfast is probably one of the worst we have ever had, felt very much aimed at the German guests. There was never any scrambled or fried eggs ready when we went up and I could never find the lady who was cooking them. Most of the breakfast didn't get replenished when it ran out. Dinner is chosen at breakfast time from a menu offering 4 different options, some of the food was good, some of it was rubbish and not really what i would expect from Italy, most of the time we would eat out at lunch time and just have the buffet salad for dinner. The hotel shut off the aircon halfway through are stay it was still quite warm at night and the rooms are quite stuffy, we asked if they had any fans and were told no, we slept with the patio door open but there was noise from the road. This is a moan about TUI now, if you do go to this hotel book with Jet2 and not TUI, Jet2 were at the hotel 3 times a week and did a welcome meeting for their guests. TUI put is in a taxi at the airport and that was the only time we saw them. We tri

hotel continental is beautiful hotel .food excellent. staff really friendly and helpful Driver is so very helpful twice a day into town.The down side is impossible to get to lake at night so stuck in hotel. lovely bar but after a while no one in there ..entertainment only twice as well. we also found more information of guests than reception staff .seems problem hotel if mobility problems..its not a steep hill it's more like a mountain to climb back .taxis around 15 to 20 euros back from lake ..

First solo holiday and couldn't have picked a better place to go. Staff were ALL extremely welcoming and helpful. Especially the reception girls. I was nervous about travelling to places of interest but one of the girls had printed out and highlighted what Buses and Trains I would need to take in order to making it easy for me. Also received a card from them which allowed me free travel around the towns, money off museums/castles & restaurants. The hotel complimentary bus was great as it is a bit of a hike to the hotel although a stunning walk. Rooms were clean and beds made daily, food was delicious and lots of variety. I like how you get your own dedicated table for the duration of your stay too, great idea! Garden area beautiful and well kept. Sauna and pool was great to come back to and relax after a day exploring at the wonderful lake. Enjoyed my stay so much I have booked to come back to stay next year 🙂
