Bella Ev Guest House

So far so disappointing. There is little service to speak of. Rubbish taken away but bed not made and dishes not washed (these are from other guests too). An effusive welcome on Day 1 and then you can't find anyone to help you. Instant tea and coffee and a few teabags provided, no milk. For R1000 a night without breakfast, this is a rip-off.

Wonderful experience with lovely and welcoming hosts ! I loved the spirit of the house, the big bedroom, the hosts themselves and the location next to the beach. And on top of it, the meals and breakfasts were absolutely delicious. Conclusion - I'm choosing to go back there for my next stay in Cape Town.

Bella Ev is centrally located in Muizenberg and within walking distance to restaurants and the beach. The house overlooks a beautiful, historic park and you can park safely in front of the house at night. It's a great location for exploring the area with a short drive to Kalk Bay for more great restaurants and local shops. Cape of Good Hope and the national park are a great day-trip and easy, scenic drive. Our hosts were wonderful, friendly and helped with all our questions about the area. The room was large and comfortable with old world charm and access to the garden out back. We took the B&B option and had breakfast in the main house dining room each morning. Breakfasts were substantial and delicious and we enjoyed talking with the hosts each morning. I highly recommend Bella Ev for the hospitality, great location and value. I will definitely go back to stay on my next visit to the Western Cape!

Dear Friends in South Africa had recommended that I stay in this heritage guest house due to the warm hospitality and the close proximity to the famous white sand Muizenberg beach (Surfers Corner). Having stayed here I can now say that I am so glad that I followed their recommendation! Location: Perfect. Next to beach and across from a green belt. You can hear the waves at night (I stayed in the Napoleon room), I was woken up by gentle warm sunlight through one of the many windows, and it’s a 3 minute walk to the beach/all the quirky shops for a nice meal and buying beach gear. Hospitality: Amazing. My room had an antique extra long bath - I had come in stressed and exhausted and the owner Kerime noticed and offered to draw me an Epsom salt bath; I took her up on the offer, and so glad I did! Accommodation: Artistic and unique with personality. Evidently the guesthouse is a “Grand dame.” It has high ceilings, custom metal work, beautiful and unique furnishings and a feeling of coming “home.” This is for a traveler who appreciates good bones and gracious spaces - well loved but definitely not a modern aesthetic! Sleep: I slept deeply and peacefully. The sound of the waves lulled me gently to sleep and I felt safe and cozy under a fresh and warm duvet in a comfortable king sized sleigh bed. General vibe: Guests treated like a cross between family and royalty. I met really interesting international guests (German, Italian and Russian, to name a few) who were repeat guest over many years because they so enjoyed their previous stays. Breakfast: An experience. Don’t miss the breakfast! Beautifully set table, different each day and lovely special dishes - all unique. The owner has roots from the Ottoman Empire and the only thing better than the Turkish coffee she shares with the guests are her amazing stories. Last thoughts: After staying here and having an amazing experience, I can say this guesthouse is a place well cared for, with soul, where you feel cared for and special as a guest as well. The owner truly understands hospitality. I will definitely stay here again!

I arrived at The Bella Ev in February and spent the first night in the Noir suit and really enjoyed the victorian bath! The next day I moved to The self catering apartment for the rest of the month. That month was idilic to say the least - where I first experienced the outdoor area in the sun and began to see the incredible warmth in which Mrs Sinclair and Co, run their guest house. They are incredible hosts, who made me feel loved and welcome. After that, I moved to The Cube - the detached apartment on the premises - and spent two of the best months of my life there. Muizenberg has so much to offer and the Bella Ev is in the heart. During the 3 months in total I stayed there I thoroughly enjoyed the architecture, the art and outdoor space of The Bella Ev. On-top of all that, the proximity to Surfers Corner makes The Bella Ev a must stay for any Peninsular explorer! Many thanks to Mrs Sinclair and her family for making my stay there one of the best memories of my life so far! Don’t forget to ask to try the Turkish coffee!!

We, a family with a young son, lived in this beautiful villa for a long and happy 8 months. Definitely the best location in the city: the center is in the quiet of the park, safe - the city police station is in line of sight and at the same time nearby - all the main places of Muizenberg are no more than 5 minutes on foot. The villa itself is a masterpiece of colonial suburban architecture and historical heritage, and the interior is filled with paintings, sculptures and artifacts, most of which have a history worthy of description in a separate review. But even this is not the main thing. As everywhere, the atmosphere is determined by people, not objects, and here Bella Ev has repeatedly exceeded all our expectations. During our stay, we had the chance to become part of Mrs. Sinclair's extended family and that was the core of our journey. We were happy to spend time together - in interesting conversations and activities, walking and traveling, and even daily routines. All together formed an impression that allows me to definitely call the time at Bella Ev the best long vacation in my life.
