One of our guests, described Watauga Lake as Lake Geneva in the NorthEast corner of Tennesee. Our house sits atop of the mountains in Appalachia at 4500 feet. Because we are in the Cherokee National Forest, there are very few homes on the lake which makes the views prettier than normal. In addition, the lake gets warm early in the season. You can swim from April through late October. It is a short walk to the private marina and gazebo, where there is a private covered marina; Fish Springs will bring a rental boat to an open slip for you if you'd like or you can bring one yourself. In the winter, it is an amazing home located 20 miles from a handful of skiing mountains including Sugar, Beech, and Appalachian. Our home, completed in late November 2009, looks like something straight out of a movie with driftwood trees inside the house as well as indoor and outdoor water falls. Our 2017 Custom Built Mountain Home features great views overlooking the mountains and a spring fed pond. There is an expansive covered deck. Wood and tile floors with open floor plan. The kitchen is very spacious with a large island and view of the mountains. There is a Master Bedroom on each floor. Each Master has a laundry room and full bath. The heat system is a radiant floor with thermostats in each bedroom. Please note that the top part of our gravel road is steep and can be difficult for some vehicles and loads.
