Mivumo River Lodge

The flight from zanzibar to kiba airstrip was a brilliant start to our 2 day safari. We met our guide abel at the airstrip, who shared his vast knowledge of the wildlife & surrounding areas on our jeep safari through nyerere park . It was amazing. We Loved it & it just kept getting better . We arrived at mivumo lodge late afternoon & we was stunned by this place , the setting is unreal . On the banks of the rufiji river . The staff are so friendly & welcoming. the food was great . Day 2 - morning boat safari on the river with our guide issa , who shared his knowledge of the river & wildlife. A great trip , we even saw giraffes from the boat We returned to the lodge for lunch , before our trip to the airstrip with abel & park ranger paul . Giraffes & impala popping up all over ,also 2 elephants with there baby Overall an amazing experience Thank you

We spent five days here as a family of four, staying in two lodges and doing ten safaris; a mixture of jeep, walking and river safaris, the latter at both sunrise and sunset. We had the most enjoyable experience and felt that we were warmly welcomed into such a wonderful extended family. Nothing was too much trouble and everything felt like it was designed for us, bespoke and personalised. The staff are friendly, hard working and fun. Yuseph and the team of waiters and waitresses looked after us well at meal times, knowing that our son always wanted double portions of the fish and meat and no carbs! The bush breakfast was one of our best memories, and all set out on the bonnet of the jeep, with a tablecloth and napkins, delicious! Emil took good care of our rooms and laundry, his service was exceptional. Sheria organised a special experience on the beach, looking at the stars, around a fire pit, again, an unforgettable experience. Richard and Godsun were our safari guides. Richard is a man of many talents, speaking multiple languages, spotting camouflaged wildlife, and planning a unique safari experience that worked so well for us as a family. Paul, the ranger, accompanied us on the walking safari and star gazing experience, keeping us safe. My son and husband also enjoyed several games of football with the staff in the evening, which everyone enjoyed. Thank you to everyone. The owners should be proud of this wonderful staff team. The safari experience was perfect and this was as a result of such a special staff team.

The lodge was amazing, we highly recommend it to everyone who is thinking of staying there. The facilities, the location of the lodge right on the river, and of course the wonderful staff who made sure our time spent there was so memorable. The game drives were fantastic and the river cruising at sunset was so special.
