Residence Inn Morgantown Medical Center Area

We got there and when I went to check in,they said there was no room available.They made arrangements at another hotel and paid the difference,but I was not informed of the change til I arrived at 11pm

The service was excellent.

This hotel was below expectations. It wasn't bad but when you stay at a Residence Inn you have expectations for it to be on a par with other Residence Inns. They are a franchisee and rent the name without providing the expected services such as the hors d'oeuvres in the evening etc., The room was clean and the breakfast tasted good. The room was quirky, but overall a good room. Unfortunately no view. Not a bad hotel but shouldn't call itself a Residence Inn. This just sets guests up for disappointment. With proper expectations, this would have been at least average and possibly very good. But high expectations lead to disappointment.

Overall the stay was fair at best. We had three guests and not enough sheets or towels before we asked for more. On the second ight we asked for an extra pillow and the hotel was out of pillows. We tried to use the pull out sofa as a second bed and the bed was like a crater in the middle. Staff was friendly and polite though. Tea at breakfast smelled of old coffee as they clearly don't use separate hotcwater containers. Not a bad stay but the 4 and 5vstar reviews don't reflect the experience we had.

We found a very uncooperative staff who told you what you wanted to hear and had no follow through. They couldn't handle a full hotel during the football game weekend and seemed overwhelmed. Service and services came up way short and this was a bad hotel experience.

Staff is so friendly! Great location! Great breakfast! We came for a tennis tournament. Great location for the West Virginia university tennis courts. The breakfast here is better than any other similar type hotel. The person who in charge of breakfast does a great job. Sam at the front desk is a gem. So personable and helpful. The two others we interacted with were helpful as well.

Have not stayed here for a few years preferring newer Marriott properties in the area but was very disappointed this stay. Awakened almost 3 am with the heat up to 80’ and couldn’t turn it off. Bed needed replaced years ago, weak, immediately rolled to middle. Bathroom dark, poorly lit, older low toilet and no elongated bowls. Very slippery old bath tub/shower combo. Vanity in bath area made for people around 5’. Problems verified by maintenance but at front desk check out all I got was sorry, I’ll tell the manager. No adjustment on bill. Frequent Marriott guest with high status and very poor customer service. On positive side folks doing breakfast we’re hustling and location is good. I did note original builder/operator of the hotel had sold and it’s now operated by the McNiel Group. Clearly this location not in compliance with applicable Marriott brand standards.

This is one of the worst Marriott hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The room wasn’t very clean. The price was way more than I would’ve expected to pay. One of the most incompetent hotel staffs I’ve ever dealt with. Most of them don’t have a clue how to do anything. Upon leaving, we told the assistant manager how everything was and she basically shrugged and told me that she wasn’t going to do anything about it. She also told me if I don’t like how things are done here, that I should go to the Hilton down the street. Totally rude and unprofessional. I would not stay here again

We’ve stayed here multiple times in the past and it’s a bit of a mixed bag. The staff are always kind friendly and helpful. The location for a football game is great- and that’s why they’ve got you- they don’t care about the enormous up charge on weekends like that or other special university weekends. We arrived early for check in which I knew we would not get into our room but assumed I could at least complete the check in process and get a text when room ready. No- they cannot do that. Apparently their system cannot “check you in without an assigned room number”. Never heard of that, especially at a Marriott. And it’s basically not true because I ended up staying in a different room than assigned. On a football weekend the hotel is sold out. Wouldn’t they want to stagger check in’s- even just the paper work part? Makes no sense. Then we check in. Actually that was fairly painless… until we got in the room and it was not even cleaned yet! Bed linens all messed up, tv on, coffee cups on table and bathroom counter. It was after 4pm. Hotel was dead when we arrived at 12. What have they been doing all day? Certainly not checking people in! So the manager was very nice and immediately gave us a different room. No paperwork involved… and we were assigned a handicap accessible room which I am not a fan of. I don’t like the low beads or bathroom and shower set up in those, but no choice, full hotel. This room was technically cleaned but not clean really. Dust, tic tac container under the bed, baby sock under the bed. No attention to detail. For nearly a $1000 weekend they should be ashamed! Not that this is important, but the food wasn’t that good either. The eggs were literally in a watery casserole serving dish-yuck! But that’s only a minor complaint. Hotel lobby area is nice. Pool no longer in service. I don’t use them but just so others know in case they thought it was still in use.
