Christmas lunch for me and my partner visiting St Cyrus from Yorkshire over Christmas £160.00 for two Christmas lunches Christmas Day so did not mind the price but I did expect decent hot quality food and I’m afraid we really did not receive this starter terrine was poor and my partner left hers then for main we both had sirloin which was pretty undercooked the garlic mash was lumpy and the new and roast potatoes where barely warm also the other veg was puree which looks like children’s food on a positive note my pudding of trifle was great and partners banoffee cheesecake was ok so all in all bland lukewarm expensive food served on rickety small tables did not stay for coffee as milk had been on table in a small jug throughout the meal and the mugs was not really befitting a nice coffee so did not wait to see left early won’t be back feel extremely cheated out of what should have been a nice Christmas meal and at the price that is definately what we paid for

Shocking service when out for a meal with my kids and friend. Plates were too hot for kids, no issue if waiting staff let us know at time of placing on table. Disgusting attitude from waitress however the food was beautiful..................

Had a four night stay at The George Hotel in June 2024. This was our first visit to Montrose, we decided to have a holiday therein order to visit the Montrose Basin Nature Reserve. The hotel staff were friendly. We were given room 4, which was spacious, and also had a large bathroom. The room overlooked the road but noise wasn't a problem. The beds were comfortable, and I really couldn't fault the room. The hotel offer a laundry service, which we made use of. The laundry prices were very reasonable. We loved the cooked to order breakfasts - Arbroath Smokie, Stornoway black pudding, potato scones are just some of the cooked foods available. We also liked the fruit salad bowls. We would definitely stay here again if we visited Montrose.
