I honestly don’t understand how this property is rated 4-star, it is a 3- star at best. Positivee: - The kitchen is well equipped - Good view of the slopes - Staff is very polite - Has parking (if pre-booked) - Location: bakery, supermarket, ski rental and a couple of restaurants are right on the hotel’s doorstep Negatives: - The hotel is pretty dated, looks like the carpets, curtains and sofa linen haven’t been replaced or cleaned in years. - sofas very uncomfortable and no throws, we used towels to keep warm! - our apartment smelt bad from the minute we walked in. The staff came up to check but they couldn’t figure out what it was, so the smell lingered throughout our stay unfortunately. - poor and patchy wifi connection - the common area is basically the reception and is only open during certain hours, so effectively there is no area for the kids to hang out, parents to relax etc. - maybe this is common in apartments (we have only previously done apartments once), but we were shocked that we were asked to remove the bedlinen from the beds and clean the kitchen ourselves in order to not lose part of our deposit. - The centre of Montegenevre, where the ESF lessons start, is a 5-10minute walk, so it’s not ideal if you’re with young kids and have to carry skis, get on a very busy bus etc. In summary, this hotel is not good value for money and doesn’t provide any of the typical hotel services. You’d be much better off staying at a chalet, which are actually pretty well priced in the area.
