We are just finishing a 3 day stay at Le Mandrie di Ripalta. This is not a 4 star accommodation! 1. The breakfast buffet is not a buffet. One staff member places what you wish to eat on your plate. Choices are limited. Favorite choices are gone long before the time for breakfast is finished. 2. Dinner choices are limited, the quality of food is average at best and prices are high. 3. A vehicle is absolutely essential. The villa where we stayed was a 7 - 10 minute walk to the restaurant, with a steep climb and steep downhill grade going both ways. Nothing is available for purchase (water, wine, other necessities) other than at dinner time. Management should at least have a golf cart to ferry people from their villa to the restaurant. 4. The pool is mediocre at best. We are used to crystal clear pools. This pool is only 1.5 meters in depth and you cannot see the bottom. We would not swim in the pool, even though the weather was very warm. 5. The grounds are generally unkept - shrubbery is overgrown. 6. Bugs! Flies, mosquitoes and various other insects (flying and crawling) drive you crazy. There are no repellents available. 7. Accommodations are bare necessity! In the advertising, we were given to understand there was a kitchen and bedroom on the main floor and a bedroom on the second floor. On the main floor, there is a large, basically empty space with 2 chairs, a small couch and a good sized bedroom - no water, no stove, no running water, no bathroom facilities. Occupants of the main floor must climb a steep staircase to use bathroom facilities. The second floor has the bathroom and a good sized bedroom. The bed is comfortable. There is little to no ventilation in the bathroom - do not expect towels to dry overnight. 8. Staff is cordial and generally helpful, given what they have to work with. This is at best a 3 star accommodation. We would not stay here again.
