Superb location in quiet Monte Rio. A short distance away from slightly busier Guerneville and the delightful Duncan’s Mills. Very pleasant staff and a nice clean room, with spectacular views of the river from our balcony room. Simple breakfast but more than expected.

Fortressed in tall cedars across the bridge from the public beach in Monte Rio on a bend in the Russian River, the Dell Highland Lodge offers a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Rooms on the river side provide a constant scenic view. The spacious and clean room was appropriately furnished for the natural surroundings of the lodge. Amble toiletries were provided and the large bath particularly appreciated. The bar and dining hours are restricted with some dinners, which you should try, requiring reservation so check in advance.

Spent one night at Highland Dell Lodge and enjoyed it very much. Had a room overlooking the Russian River. Room was quite small but very clean, attractive and well arranged. Decor was updated, bed was comfortable and everything else was well positioned and functional, so the size of the room wasn’t a problem. The German food was delicious, all of it. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside deck before sunset and overlooking the river. It was so pretty there, surrounded by beautiful trees.

Pro’s: Very nice studio room, friendly working staff (gal who sets up breakfast and cleans etc) Con: The direct access to the river “without leaving the lodge” is seasonal. I booked this hotel for a second time because of the dock that provided convenient access to the river. When I went in May, the temp was in the high 70’s/80’s but the hotel still had not put out the dock. I asked and was told it was on the list of things to do but unfortunately it was not a priority to the owners. If direct access to the river for water sports is a priority, make sure you call ahead. Next time I will consider the hotel just down river that had their dock ready to go for the fabulous weather.

We loved this lodge. Clean, quiet, charming. Had a great German dinner in the bar. Bratwurst was excellent. Not that many German restaurants around so this was a nice change. The owners were very nice & on site. The rooms are on the smaller side but spotless. We had a nice room overlooking the river. The continental breakfast was very good. So nice to have breakfast on site ! We would definitely recommend this lodge. Was a great great away for my husband & I.

We stayed one night, a Monday, so it was not very busy. Our room was cozy and we saw very little of the other guests. The Inn is charming and was perfect for us. We really enjoyed the German food on the dinner menu which is not available where we live. The staff was helpful and courteous.
