Once a pleasant place to stay while in Mombasa, I think the glory days are over just that some of us were not aware. Having stayed several times before- last being in 2019 - I did not have any doubts when I booked my whole family here. Old dilapidated room with squeaky furniture and worn out beddings and towels. In the two bedroom we could barely use one of the bathrooms and all had to queue to use in one bedroom. When I inquired at the reception, it was no surprise to them and person on duty easily narrated all the problems with our apartment and added, sorry we cannot help because we are fully booked. Promising that once others check out we might get something better. I was not happy that they accepted our booking and charged premium for it, when they knew their supposed good apartments were full. It didn’t help us that we dropped our bags went for errands including having dinner at their restaurant before checking into our apartment. With two children below 5 years, you cannot go looking for last minute accommodation. We checked out after a night and they promised their manager would be in touch with us. It is almost two months since, we never heard from them. Mombasa has many new and well managed places, if you’re like me that had this on default, it is time to explore.
