Sorrel River Ranch Resort

The best things about Sorel are the location, view, and the excellent restaurant. We visited in November and it was dreamy - only the two of us plus a few more people here and there at the breakfast place. Super quiet, gorgeous crisp weather - and we basically had a private chef! Gary, Andrei, and Portia made our evenings really special. The menu could have been cut way down with so few guests to accommodate, but we enjoyed everything we tried. Since we were the only guests on our last night, Gary made us a personal tasting meal that was incredible. Risotto on the fly - the man can cook! We had beetroot hummus with crispy garlic and chickpeas; risotto with blueberries, pistachios, topped with duck confit; and stracciatella topped with paper-thin sliced pears, mint, prosciutto and lemon oil. On other nights he made a truffle Mac and cheese that I’m still craving, and a special cheesecake for my husband’s birthday. Gary’s food was absolutely complemented by the nice service by Andrei - a true professional straight out of the Yellowstone Club. We were very well taken care of. I was also impressed by the prompt and friendly communication I had with June during my booking process. I had to make some changes and she made it super easy. The room was just ok, nothing to get excited about. But the views are amazing and we prefer spending time out in the valley rather than in Moab. So many great hikes and canyon adventures in the area. There aren’t many options, other than camping, to stay right on the river out there, so it’s worth the price for sure.

Still very bad vibe and service for drinks and dining. Every time we've stopped by while passing through, we regret it. There is an cold, empty, "ghost town" feeling around the property. Hard to find someone to help you, and we have frequently noticed odd attitudes and a general unwelcome feeling. They say "No" to most things you ask for. There is never anyone dining there anyway. Even just getting a drink at the bar takes awhile to run down. Too bad, such a lovely property.

Magical experience from the surroundings to the staff to the accommodations. We met lovely people from all over the globe. Took advantage of everything from horseback trail rides to UTV back country experiences. Would recommend to a friend. Serenity at its best. I look forward to a trip back with more family next time!

We made a reservation five months ago. Within a week, we found out we needed to change our plan and cancel our reservation. I called customer service to cancel and they charged us a cancellation fee of 10% of the total reservation cost and called it a credit card processing fee. I questioned the fee and the customer service person agreed that it was too much. I asked to speak to a manager and they would not talk to me or call me back. I do not recommend making a reservation here. It’s located far from Moab and there are much nicer, newer and more convenient places to stay (along with better restaurants options). We ended up staying at the Hoodoo Hilton Curio and had an amazing stay there.

The team has such pride in the service they provide and the care of the property. They are masters of saying yes to your every request, and making sure you have everything that you need. During an unexpected city- wide power outage, they showed their true colors in offering everything they could to make it enjoyable and the hospitality was next level at every turn.

Terrible, terrible service and attitude. Do not be fooled!!! Had to cancel a reservation 8 months in advance due to an unexpected pregnancy and they charged over $1,000 for the cancellation even though I had made the reservation just a couple of weeks earlier. They will clearly be able to fill the reservation as it is during their high season and they have 8 months remaining. Manager was uncaring and unsympathetic. This place is all about squeezing the last dime out of you and not caring about providing a good experience.
