Route 66 Inn & Suites

Clean place, but was sad that the heater was not working on the hot tub. Would have been nice after the long drive and going to the play at the Coleman theater. Just a few things about the bathroom that I reported on check out that could be missed if not reported. Had to hold down the handle on the toilet to flush. The shampoo and conditioner were in the wrong bottles in the shower (refillable ones). Also had some loose tile next to the tub. Breakfast was good, other than the biscuits for the biscuits and gravy were out when we got down at 9. My husband told someone and was told, "not my job" when they could have said that they would let someone know.

If you love folding chairs outside the front doors so staff can sit and smoke, check in people that can't remember what the conversation was and appears to be on something, no like really on something! Then this is your hotel!! If you do not appreciate having to have cigarette smoke out the front doors or what the check in lady is on when you check in then probably should look elsewhere!

This hotel is right off of the highway with easy on and off access. There isn't much around this area but it was a good stop for us. The hotel was clean and breakfast was good. The people at the reception desk were friendly.

Thank goodness my friend was staying here also. I had no hairdryer in my room and I'd already showered. When I called the front desk they didn't have any. The lock on our room was barely attached. My friend switched rooms 3 times because their thermostat didn't work. Breakfast had almost raw bacon and not much else to offer. Their waffle maker wasn't working. All that said, the staff was very friendly and it was clean.

Would not stay here again or recommend for anyone else to stay here. We typically use Holiday Inn any time we travel, but this was by far the worst one we’ve stayed at. Check in was a mess. Rooms were not cleaned and ready and there were multiple families trying to check in around 3:30-4:30 who were being told their reservations had been cancelled. It did not matter that they had a confirmation number, they were told the hotel was overbooked and they’d have to go to Joplin. Nothing was done to help any of them find rooms at other hotels and management kept blaming the corporate website for the cancellations. They were probably better off for not having to stay at this hotel though. We had several rooms booked directly through the hotel. None of our requests were honored. None of the rooms were close together (we were all on separate floors-not ideal with kids), no top floor rooms either; we could hear people running the halls all night. After calling the front desk about the noise we were told there was nothing they could do about it. One room had a horrible smell when the air was on but they had no other rooms to move us to, and we were told if we didn’t want the room we could leave and they would check someone else into it. Horrible customer service skills were on full display for our entire stay. Rooms did not seem thoroughly cleaned. Both carpet and tile in the rooms had a sticky feeling. We used a wet towel to wipe the tile down and it seemed to help a little. Linens were dingy and stained. In one room, the shower appeared to have mold in one corner and the shower curtain was stained. I’m another room, one curtain was missing from the window and the one that was there had several holes in it-and this was a ground floor room that looked directly into the parking lot. None of the rooms had that clean smell, which they should’ve still had since we had to wait for them to be cleaned before we could check in. Seemed like every time we came back to hotel the housekeeping staff was outside on a smoke break, so maybe that’s why the rooms took so long to get ready. The elevator is directly across from the pool area and the floor was always wet and slippery there. We heard one guest asking if the staff could put a rug down to help avoid anyone falling, but they would not do that. One guest laid a towel down to soak up the water but the staff quickly removed the towel and did absolutely nothing to fix the issue other than yell at people that the floor was wet so don’t fall. Pool and gym were “out of order” on Saturday. Breakfast was subpar for a Holiday Inn and consisted of burnt biscuits and sausage gravy, warm yogurt, cereal, and spoilt milk. One gentleman was having cereal and found that his milk was spoilt. He made another bowl with a new milk and it too was spoilt. He told everyone in the room to avoid the milk because it was all spoilt. Staff was made aware of the issue and did nothing to correct it. We visited with others during breakfast

This is in the top 3 worst hotels I've ever stayed at. If you're thinking of staying here, and you're exhausted, I still recommend you keep driving, or try the Hampton Inn across the road. We were coming back from Chicago and based on our recent stay in Lebanon's Holiday Inn Express, we were looking forward to stopping here for the night. We didn't take the time to read the most recent reviews of this hotel. That was our first mistake. I've been an extensive traveler during my career. In addition, I've been an IHG member for over 19 years. This was by far the worst IHG property I've ever seen. When we arrived, we noticed that the parking lot was basically empty. This should have been our first sign that there might be problems. We chalked it up to being a Sunday afternoon. Once we checked in, my wife went to the first room we were assigned, and it was extremely dirty. She immediately noticed sticky rings on the nightstand, and the room overall felt "dirty". We asked for another room. The second room wasn't any better. The first thing we noticed were the carpets felt dirty and bathroom floors were covered in smeared dirty mop water, and we then saw the shower. I've attached photos and essentially there was mold and/or rust in the corners of the shower. In addition, there were dirty footprints from someone stepping into the shower floor, I assume from walking on the dirty carpets and floors. We complained to the front desk, and they dutifully apologized and said they would issue a partial credit. As we were pretty exhausted driving from Chicago, we chose to stay the night (and not shower the next day). The next day we had planned to grab a quick cup of coffee and take advantage of the full breakfast offered. To our dismay, they had no coffee (said coffee maker was broken), no pancakes (again pancake maker broken), no scrambled eggs, just canned sausage gravy and biscuits and cinnamon rolls. I started loading the car and noticed all the staff were out front smoking, including the manager. We did speak to the manager who gave us excuses, including they had all new employees, and stories of why coffee maker broken (it was shooting hot water everywhere) and asked for specifics of why we thought the room was dirty. She indicated she would pass on to the "head housekeeper". She also noted that the night manager had not reduced the cost of our stay, and she adjusted the rate down $50.... When we left, all the staff were still outside in front of the hotel smoking, and what I assume was the head housekeeper sitting on the ground, all in conversation. BTW, none of the staff were professionally dressed, no smocks, no Holiday Inn clothing, etc., thus it was difficult to tell who an employee was, and who was a guest of the hotel. My wife and i discussed this while on the road, read some of the latest reviews, and it was very clear this hotel has significant issues that need to be addressed.
