Ulysse Djerba Thalasso & Spa

Firstly I’m actually shocked at some of the reviews saying it’s a 5star , it’s a 3* at best . We was meant to stay here for a week and we came home after 3days . If you are English do not stay here staff can’t speak it and when they can’t understand become frustrated and shoo u away or roll their eyes or walk away . All guests where French German or Dutch ,me and my partner were smiling laughing they did not like it and we was told to be silent. Hotel manager doesn’t even speak English Room - had cobwebs, air conditioning was filthy , paid extra for swim up pool room so you would think it would be the nicest area wrong , the corridor to the room was like walking to the basement dirty, dark , dingy had a smell of like petrol not sure where it was from Sunloungers broken and also mouldy Same as the grates and some tiles in the pool. Food - yuck either overcooked or swimming in grease , presentation was like they’d just chucked it on the plate. We didn’t eat for the whole 3days at hotel as it was so bad . Cocktails were weak and not cold . Getting a drink if your English is hard everything here is hard or a battle . You will wait ages and ages for anything to be done Waste of money , worst holiday I have ever been on and I have travelled a lot stayed in all different starred hotels . Iv stayed in better travelodges

We had a great experience at this hotel. Despite arriving in the middle of the night due to a flight delay we were welcomed warmly. We had a booked a swim up room and have to say it was lovely, well decorated with a spacious terrace. The sun at this time of year was lower in the sky so the pool outside our room only had sun for a couple of hours early in the morning, and the terrace not at all, this wouldn't get any even in high summer. That didn't bother me too much but the room/pool combo didn't really work for us as it was quite isolated and not near the bar or restaurants. Food at the buffet was varied and delicious, there was also an a la carte option for lunch if you wanted, which we had a couple of times and was again very tasty. You could have one dinner visit per stay. The best part of this hotel was the staff. They were friendly, happy and went out of their way to make a great experience for us. No, English isn't their best language, but all of those we spoke with made a huge effort and actually welcomed the opportunity to practice their English. They also really appreciated a little effort from us when we tried a little French! Housekeeping was daily with new towels every day. And there is a kettle with tea and coffee, also topped up daily. I wouldn't hesitate to return here, although I'd not bother with a swim up next time.

Beautiful resort, beautiful beaches, unbelievable fresh food and even more exceptional staff. Coming from UK, I had no idea what to expect from Djerba, more so, this resort as we got moved here due to travel advice changing in Zarzis, that was the luckiest blessing in disguise we could have had. The facilities are clean, the pools are immaculate and it’s just good vibes for 10 days. The staff, especially, Houcem & Fedi were simply the best of the bunch, when I say they went the extra distance, they went past mars and probably hit the sun though the whole animation team absolutely spot on every day, spoke such good English as well. The only recommendation I would suggest are all-inclusive menus, there was a real lack of menus as to what’s included and what’s not included, especially when it came to drinks, I spent 7 days on mojitos because I didn’t have the French in me to know what else there was but other than that it was the most perfect holiday with my girlfriend for our first time in Tunisia, mostly for this hotel as we only left it once. Padel court is perfect as well.

We have just come back from a weeks stay at the hotel. We travelled on a package deal with Easyjet. Having read reviews we came with an open mind and were plesantly surprised. 95% of guests are French, with some Germans and Italians. Therefore the entertainment is geared to them so we did at times feel a bit out of things. The hotel once grand is now showing her age but is kept spotlessly clean. The staff are mostly polite and friendly though language can be a bit of a barrier. We found a polite please and thank you in french with a smile went a long way. The food in the buffet became a bit repetitive and was often not very hot which was a shame. We ate in Neptune the al a carte 1 night but were very disappointed with the menu and lack of service at the table. We were mostly ignored and the only table not to be offered a bread basket... We didn't use the spa, and the outside pool was way too cold to swim in. We did use the indoor pool, though this was also cold despite it being advertised as heated. Overall for what we paid, it was a good value for money break.

Beautiful hotel very clean welcoming staff and very good range of food.Choose swim up room for a little more luxury.Would come again at the right price
