Hotel Boutique Casa Flor de Mayo

This was my second stay at Casa Flor de Mayo, and I will stay again if I have the good fortune to return to Merida. The location is safe and perfect--on a quiet street, just two blocks from Paseo de Montejo, an easy walk into the center of town, and plenty of restaurants everywhere. The rooms are charming and there is a very relaxing garden/pool area. But, what puts this place over the top is the staff! They are willing to help out with any question you might have, and have plenty of suggestions of places to see and what to do. Each person always greets you with a smile, a warm hola, and asks how you are--their genuine kindness cannot be matched, and you will feel like family.

During my trip to Mérida, I had the pleasure of staying at Casa Flor de Mayo, a charming and cozy retreat that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the friendly and helpful staff made me feel right at home, attending to all my needs with genuine hospitality. The owner, Matt, is great and his recommendations for restaurants and sites were spot-on, making my exploration of the city truly memorable. He's a great source of information for anything you may need. The hotel itself is a haven of comfort. The lovely courtyard and serene pool were perfect spots to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Every morning, I enjoyed a delicious breakfast featuring fresh fruits and omelettes in a cozy dining area. Also, had great conversations with the staff and got to know more about the local culture. Casa Flor de Mayo's central location made it easy to explore Merida's main attractions while still offering a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. In summary, my stay at Casa Flor de Mayo was exceptional. The warm, welcoming atmosphere, combined with Matt's personalized recommendations, made for an unforgettable visit to Merida. I highly recommend Casa Flor de Mayo for anyone seeking a memorable stay in this beautiful city.

Back in March 2020 we stayed a few days at this Inn, but our plans were truncated by the Pandemic. However. just a few weeks ago, we stayed there a second time (four nights) and we were finally able to complete our plans. Even then, in 2020, we were highly impressed by the service, cleanliness and beauty of Casa Flor de Mayo. Now, as the title of this comments says it, we lack words to express our satisfaction. Every aspect of our stay was nearly perfect. We liked the location, near Paseo Montejo, the quietness of the rooms, with only some bird songs and the occasional dog barking, and most of all, the gracious and very attentive services of the personnel. The daily breakfast (included in the rates) was slightly different every day, but it never failed to be healthy and delicious. On this I would like to add a tip, just a block away, on the opposite side of the street, there is a bakery with a good selection of Mexican pastries and bread. Go there, buy some of your favorites, and enjoy them with the fresh coffee at breakfast, or with a cup of tea at any time of the day. BTW, this Inn offers a communal dinning room and kitchen to prepare your own food if you wish. Another example of the good services we received was our laundry. Prior to arrival we had accumulated a little more than a week's load of it. We gave it to the personnel and in about 24 hours, it was returned to us all perfectly folded and ultra-clean, and for a very reasonable fee. My wife and I are not into swimming or pools in general, but the one you have at Casa Flor de Mayo will always look inviting. Also, if you wish, you can arrange for private transportation services through the hotel. In our case, we preferred to find those through private references. The only minor imperfection we found during our stay, was a plumbing problem in the bathroom. The cold water pipe did have enough pressure. I communicated this problem to management, and they really tried hard to fix it, but apparently they could not get the required help on time. We were offered the option to change room, but we decided the minor difficulty was not that serious. I would like to end these comments saying that anyone heading to Merida, and wishing to stay at a small, friendly, cozy, and convenient Inn, will not go wrong staying at Casa Flor de Mayo.

Similar to earlier reviews, I am hesitant of giving this review as I am afraid we will never be able to get reservations again due to demand. The perfect place for a couple. An absolutely beautiful genuine Merida guest house. The ambiance is very relaxing and the staff are phenomenal. The pool is very relaxing at the end of the day. There is a refrigerator and freezer for you to use. There is a Walmart a couple blocks away where you can get wine and such. Uber and taxis are very accessible. Uber rides for us averaged $2 USD. The hotel staff will hook you up with a private driver that will take you to two Cenotes, Uxmal, a hacienda, chocolate factory and a genuine Yucatan restaurant....minus lunch, the car trip was $100 American. Our driver was terrific as he knew all the ins and outs. For this trip bring water shoes or sandals for the cenotes and good walking shoes for the rest of the stuff. We enjoyed fresh fruit, eggs, fresh juice and coffee every morning at the guest house. You can arrange to have laundry done with 24 hours notice. Wi-Fi is great and all is clean, clean, clean.

This hotel would have been a perfect subject for Frida Kahlo’s painting. It must have been recently refurbished because it was spotless and very well kept. It is cozy and familiar and the staff highly professional. Highly recommended!!!!

Im Casa Flor de Maya wurden wir herzlich empfangen und hatten einen wunderbar angenehmen Aufenthalt. Das kleine aber feine inhabergeführte Boutique Hotel hat liebevoll eingerichtete Zimmer mit moderner Ausstattung und großen Betten. Im Hof gibt es einen Pool. Frühstück wird in einem separaten Raum serviert. Das Frühstück ist frisch und ausgewogen, mit wechselnd frischem Obst und Eierspeisen nach Wunsch. Matt, der Inhaber, kommt regelmäßig und erkundigt sich nach dem Befinden. Er ist ursprünglich Amerikaner, aber in Mérida aufgewachsen und lebt seit über 30 Jahren hier. Er hat uns tolle Tipps für Restaurants und Sehenswürdigkeiten gegeben. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Unseren Mietwagen konnten wir direkt vor dem Haus parken, die Straße ist ruhig und die Reueption ist 24h besetzt. Man sagt von Mérida, es sei die sicherste Stadt auf dem amerikanischen Kontinent, vor Quebec City. Und das Gefühl hatten wir jederzeit hier.
