Located in the picturesque village of Murrick, County Mayo, at the foot of Ireland's holy mountain, Croagh Patrick, Bertra House is a 3- star, family-run farmhouse with free parking. Blue-flagged Bertra Beach is a 5-minute walk from the property.
Each room at the award-winning Bertra House B&B, has free Wi-Fi, tea/coffee making facilities and a flat screen TV. Double rooms have en suite shower room. The twin room has a spacious, private bathroom opposite the room, and slippers and bathrobes are provided.
Breakfast includes tea/coffee, toast, fruit salad, yogurts, and fresh homemade soda bread with a selection of jams.
Guests can also enjoy an optional cooked breakfast menu for only €10.

My friend and I have been here many times for walking the last part of the Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail and have always been impressed by how Margaret makes sure we have an excellent breakfast to prepare for the day. The house is located on a quiet road in a beautiful location within walking distance of a beautiful beach away from it all. We are always impressed by the way the house is kept up to date with all modern amenities thanks to the dedication and hard work of the host.

Margaret and John Joe Gill’s place is the stuff of dreams. It’s comfortable, clean and cosy , the view over the meadows and the sea is breathtaking. Margaret is a very attentive host with a great sense of humour-she went above and beyond to make sure my parents and I would enjoy our stay. Got us our favourite jam just for us for breakfast to eat with her homemade bread. Bertra Beach is 2 minutes walk down the road- in the morning and evening the only sounds are lambs bleating and birds singing, but if you want the bustle of a town Westport is only 15 minutes away by car. One of the most pleasant stays ever in Ireland for us.

Margaret is a wonderful host. The location and the view are incredible. We can park directly in front of the house. The rooms are perfectly clean and comfortable. Breakfast is copious. There are some great walks around. We will definitely recommend and we will come back !

Stayed in Bertra house earlier this month with a group of 4 to climb Croak Patrick. Arrived late and a bit stressed but was met by the wonderful Margret who put me at ease with her no pressure attitude :). Couldn't have been nicer. She set us up in very comfortable rooms which were spotless and provided a home cooked breakfast the following morning. Loads of chat and good advise for visiting the other attractions in the area. I'll definitely stay there again if I'm up that way.

The Bertra House was amazing. It is Clean, cozy and our hostess, Margaret did absolutely everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The only comment I would make is the Bertra House is in a remote location, there is nothing within walking distance so going to dinner in the evening we needed a taxi. However, the remoteness forced us to relax, take a stroll on the beach, a quarter mile away and unwind from the touring of Ireland we’ve been doing the past week. I highly recommend the Bertra House to truly experience Irish hospitality!

We had a very nice comfortable one night’s stay at Bertra House B&B. The bedroom was very cosy, clean and big enough for two. The house has marked car park spaces as well. It is at a superb location if you are planning to climb Croagh Patrick ( a few minutes drive to the main car park). It is also a short walk from Bertra Strand. Margaret is a wonderful host.

There were 6 of us traveling around Ireland for 12 days, and the Bertra House was the best! Margaret is the most amazing host, and the town of Westport is charming. There are plenty of hiking trails nearby, should this be your thing. We highly recommend visiting this Bed and Breakfast.

Give her many stars! Margaret is a genuine delight! Her brown bread is best I've tasted in Ireland. Lovely breakfast in warm sunny kitchen. Skylight in room offered the most amazing stary skyview! Rested with warm-hearted Irishness. Lambs, green fields and the near sea. What a brilliant relief from the city! Comfy bed, spotless toilet...peace n quiet. Come away and rest your soul. Will be back soon, please God. (An Irish expression meaning God-willing.)
