We popped in for lunch. My partner had fish and chips, I had steak and ale pie and vegetables. On arrival, the pie looked great, but I had difficulty cutting into it as the pastry was rock-hard. How shortcrust pastry can come out like that, is beyond me. I finally managed to get the top off but found the first four fork-full's were so sinewy I couldn't eat them. When I did find some chunks of steak, they were hard and dry and strangely regular in a rounded shape. I decided to give up on the pie and just eat the veg and gravy, surely you cant go wrong? Well, the potatoes and swede were so salty almost as if someone had accidentally poured the whole pot of salt in when cooking. The julienne carrots were rock hard and I couldn't get a fork in them, It felt like they had been microwaved from raw, but not for long. The cabbage was see-through. I didnt like to complain as the staff were pleasant, and my partner doesn't like to make a scene. I decided to leave feedback as I've not been able to look at a plate of food without remembering the experience. Since then my partner confessed his fish and chips were awful and made him feel sick. Lovely napkins, wine, and beer.
