The hospitality of the hotel is amazing. They provided me everything I need, I had to catch a midnight flight and they even prepare me boxes of food just because I had breakfast included in my package. The vibe here is very chill. Highly recommended to have a stay here. Cons: food in general is abit salty. And choice is less

The room was a little small, yet had a nice view and ocean breeze. The mini split air conditioners were crazy loud. It took until the 2nd morning to figure out how to turn them off, they weren't necessary anyway with the ocean breeze and overhead fan. I spent most of my time outside anyway. The grounds were really lush with lots of shade and flowering plants including baobab trees. The restaurant had a large menu with some great choices. The bartender was also creative.

Villa Kiva, Matemwa is an oasis down a dusty track outside the village. Its beautiful well-maintained garden leads to the main building, where staff are well-trained and attentive. The room we had booked was at the back, overlooking the surrounding scrubland, but when staff realised we weren’t thrilled, they moved us to a much better room facing the sea. There is a huge shady area to catch the breeze, which we found a life-saver as the beach was too hot to sunbathe. Food here is excellent - and not as expensive as the surroundings would suggest. We only stayed 2 days, as we were covering a lot of the island in a 3 week trip, but would be happy spending a couple of weeks holiday here, which is what a lot of people seem to do. The village itself has a few shops, but no ATM. Our only problem was nothing to do with the hotel, just a local hassle-merchant, who threatened violence after shouting ‘no photo’ when I was photographing the palm trees fringing the beach - with no people in the shot

We had an amazing time at Villa Kiva on our honeymoon. The place was beautiful and we had a lovely room with incredible views of the beach. Everything was kept very clean and the staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. There were lots of activities on offer and we were encouraged to do as little or as much as we desired. Food was good and there were plenty of vegetarian options. We liked how all the staff knew and remembered who we were. They made us feel very welcome and we are so grateful for the fantastic time we had.

We enjoyed the stay, the friendly staff, cleaniness, yoga class,l! The breakfast was very good too!!

Relaxing days after safari in Serengeti. A small hotel with familyfeeling, very soft and relaxing feeling and everything is clean. Great breakfast (not buffe), the lunch and dinner is good but its the same menu. The rooms are ok, not luxery at all but ok. The beds are hard 😞.

The resort was ok, food was not so great and beds hard as a rock, pillows as well. We made it through but for the money, I would expect a little better. The place is dated and tired but clean. Staff is friendly once they warm up to you. Housekeeping was the most delightful as they left different towel caricatures on the bed every day and were happy to fulfill any requests.

LOVED this hotel - it's right on the beautiful Matemwe beach with beautiful rooms, very spacious and clean, lots of lovely places to lounge facing the ocean or by the pool. The restaurant has excellent food and cocktails. The reception desk was very helpful at booking activities, including a great dolphin and snorkeling trip to Mmemba atoll.

We loved the hotel because of the beach no many people,staffs very friendly,clean rooms.The pool was always clean.Very peaceful atmosphere.There breakfast was very delicious and served in large portion which can make you eat once a day.

Went for dinner, sat down at a table that suited us as there was no "wait to be seated sign". Very authoritative male waiter looked at us and said" how many are you" "do you stay here at the hotel" when realizing there was just the three of us and we did not stay at the hotel he rudely said ' go sit over there" while waving his hands. Over there was as close to being out of the hotel as possible, seemed to be the smoking section and was so dark we could not see the menu. Food was ok. Ruined our night. The table was not marked as reserved as another table was and the restaurant was maybe half full.

Wonderful place. Beautiful garden and pools, very friendly staff, clean. There are not so many tourists in Matemwe in June. Mostly people from the village om the beach playing football, collecting sea **** in low tide. We can strongly recommend it!
