Rainforest Mount Lodge

Came here for a 2-night stay, to visit the rainforest. Very highly recommended! It is a family-run lodge, with individual villas and a beautiful swimming pool, looking out over a small tea plantation. Our hosts were wonderfully welcoming, the food was totally amazing and they even gave us some balls of jaggery to take away with us. Their son, Chamara, is a rainforest guide, and an expert one, too. He took us into the reserve and showed us so many wonderful things, the flora, birds, lizards, insects and much else besides. The highlight of the forest walk was seeing two frogmouths, perched on a branch. Long ago I used to work as a trail leader in the Luangwa Valley National Park, in Zambia. So I have hands-on experience in this field. And I can tell you, from that experience, Chamara is good! He really knows his stuff and is the go-to guy if you want the rainforest low-down. Highly recommended. Accommodation surrounded by nature 100% Stunning views from the room and from the pool. We did the trekking to Sinharaja forest with his guide and we recommend it 100% In the accommodation they treat you like one of the family

This site was chosen by my driver Amila & WOW what a wonderful place. Only 300 metres from the Rainforest entrance, overlooking a valley & tea plantation. A very tranquil location. I managed to several birds that I didn't in Bundala National Park. 2 different woodpeckers, thrush, tiny kingfisher, common kingfisher with 2 chicks & some I didn't recognise. It is family run. Nothing was too much where food or kindness was concerned. very relaxed setting including hot water for the shower. Very clean. I would thoroughly recommend this place. They even organised a guide for $20 to take me for a walk through the rainforest, amazing water falls, saw a baby pigeon for the first time in my life, some unusual lizards. Even organised a free coffee at the ticket station.

Wonderful place located at the edge of the rainforest! The lovely family who is running this lodge lives in this house and is always there if you need something. The mother ist cooking fresh food and we really had the BEST rice and curry and the best Kottu in our whole Sri Lanka trip! One of the sons is working as a guide for the Rainforest Department and we recommend to book the tour with him. He is offering different tours from 4 to 6 or 8 hours and a night tour as well. Do it!!!! We would recommend you to stay longer than olny one or two nights to connect with this amazing place and spend some time at the infinity pool with unforgettable view. Enjoy :)

We hebben hier een geweldig verblijf gehad. Het wordt gerund door een familie en zij zijn erg gastvrij. De lodge was pas een paar jaar oud en schoon. Vanuit ons balkon hadden we een prachtig uitzicht. We hebben tevens deelgenomen aan een rainforest trekking (door een van de zonen) en hij had ontzettend veel kennis van zaken. Hij wist elke plant, boom en dier te onderscheiden, kendde het gedrag van elk dier en wist ze ook op de meest lastige plekken te spotten. We hebben daardoor slangen, schorpioenen, apen, uilen en ontelbaar andere insecten en vogels gezien. Als kers op de taart mochten we zwemmen bij een waterval. Al bij al, écht een aanrader!

Sehr, sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber, Mammas Curry war das Beste während unserer Reise. Unbedingt zu empfehlen ist die Wanderung mit dem Sohn durch den Regenwald, ein unvergeßliches Erlebnis, vor allem das Bad am Wasserfall. Die Bungalows haben einen mega Ausblick, die Zimmer sind groß und einfach. Frühstück ist gut und ausreichend.
