Maryculter House

One of the coolest hotels I’ve ever stayed in! Loved the vibe, the food, the people. It’s beautiful and unique, with great history as well.

What a wonderful find!! We stayed for two nights over the 18th & 19th September in this tranquil, and beautiful, location. All staff, without exception, were trained to the highest standards and the hospitality & friendliness shown to us was exceptional. The bedroom was very comfortable and we slept well. We booked in for an evening meal on our first night, and again we were very impressed - Cured Salmon to start and Peterhead Halibut for the main course. All very well presented, served and delicious flavours!! Thank you!!

We stayed at the Maryculter House for 2 nights for a wedding.. we was given our key and was sent to the fishery block, how very disappointed we were, the rooms were dull and tatty, no full length mirror wallpaper and wall broken off on a corner, stains on carpet, nothing matched it was awful.. we had to walk the full length of a stoney car park to get to hotel, at night it was pitch black and no lights at our end , it was awful. We had a meal in restaurant and service was so very slow, some said 3course meal took 2 1/2 hours ridiculous. Not a good experience or stay. The wedding food was not good at all.

We stayed for dinner bed and breakfast in a junior suite, the rooms have been recently refurbished and it was very pleasant. The food was excellent, the service relaxed and welcoming and the location and facilities fabulous. One of my happy places. Dogs are welcome.

We loved our stay at the Maryculter House. The building has kept its charm while adding all the conveniences you need for a cozy, comfortable stay. It's an easy drive to castles, hikes, and other activities, and has an excellent restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was lovely. We absolutely recommend staying at the Maryculter house, and hope to make it back soon.

We booked our wedding here 2 1/2 years ago and just had it yesterday 07/09/24. From start to finish the staff were incredible, very polite and helpful, the wedding manager Johnathan was unbelievable minus one very funny mistake that I didn’t let him forget 😂. Put our minds at ease and him and his team made the day go without a hiccup. The rooms were amazing with my own having a river view and a patio. The food for both our wedding meal, the night before and breakfast was excellent. Over all it was an amazing venue great food great staff. Could not recommend this place enough!

We wanted to get away for a few days and make the most out of our National trust memberships in and around Aberdeen so we booked in here for 4 nights. When arriving you have a beautiful long drive surrounded by woods and we could see Rabbits hopping about everywhere! The hotel is beautiful and set in the most beautiful surroundings. Our room had a gorgeous view of the river Dee with golf course on the other side of the river. You could walk around the stunning hotel grounds which has an old walled church ruin and graveyard or walk down the banks of the river Dee which is right next to the hotel. Our room was lovely and clean with everything you might need for your stay. Staff were so lovely and very attentive. Thank you especially to the kind man on Breakfast one morning who let me keep a menu to fan myself as I wasn’t feeling to wonderful that morning and was feeling super hot and desperately needed that menu 🙏☺️ and also thank you for coming back and fanning me with you’re another menu, you made us laugh and you were so kind, I only wish we got your name. The food was so good, we ate breakfast every day we were there and it didn’t disappoint in the slightest and we had dinner there 2 of the four evenings and we highly recommend the Burger! It’s not a burger as you would think, it’s like 2 of tastiest steaks in a yummy bun with the most gorgeous cheese, bacon and everything else you could want in it! It was the most amazing burger we’d ever had and the chips were sublime!!! They should win an award for their Burger and chips alone! You have to try it! You’ll be thanking us for telling you to I promise! 😉 Oh and I have to say that the rooms have fridges with a choice of local bottled still or sparkling water and wee bottles of proper semi skimmed milk. We found having the fridge super handy. I could say so much more about this place but we’d be here all day. Definitely worth a stay! Was ideally situated for all the places we wanted to visit and managed to get to them all within an hours drive of the hotel and if you don’t want to eat at the hotel then you can head into Peterculter which is 1 to 2 miles away. Visited with my mum and daughter for afternoon tea. I booked online and asked for a nice table by the window as it was my mum's 75th birthday. We were greeted by a very friendly chap who showed us to our table which did not disappoint. The quality of the savory and sweet treats were to die for and the service was friendly and efficient. They even went to the extra effort of writing happy 75th birthday on the afternoon tea stand which was a lovely touch. I would have to say that it has to be one of the nicest afternoon teas I have had and would have no hesitation of recommending a visit. I will certainly return in the not too distant future!

We stayed at Maryculter House for two nights. It’s a very old and charming building in beautiful surroundings next to the River Dee. However, our room was looking towards the driveway on the other side, at the end of a long hallway with a very low ceiling which can be a challenge for tall people. Also beware that there is no elevator and you have to carry your own luggage to your room. The room was clean and well functioning although there was only a rainshower in a bathtub with no non-slip mat! We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was nice although nothing out of the ordinary. The service was friendly and helpful.
