Riad Dar One

The Riad is beautifully furnished and it smells divine. Lovely roof terrace in the sun, good for chilling out. We had the deepest bath my husband has ever seen. Hakim and Abdelhak were fantastic, helping with all enquiries. Location is good, close to everything really. Food at the Riad was very tasty and lot of it.

Our stay at Dar One set the tone for the remainder of our trip to Morocco. Hakim provided us with exceptional service as the host who resides at the property. Abdelhak helped plan our stay at the Riad as well as set up tours, dinners, and transportation. He also reviewed reservations for travel beyond our stay in Marrakech. Further, the homemade breakfast and dinner served at the property were delicious. They accommodated my dietary preferences and the food at the Riad was in the top 2 among the restaurants where we ate Moroccan food during our trip.

This is easily the most unique property I have visited. It is a Mr. and Mrs. Smith property - part of the Hyatt portfolio. I cannot start this review without acknowledging Abdelhak and Hakim. They are incredible hosts, friendly, patient and so helpful! I had great email correspondence with this Abdelhak before arriving. Any questions I asked where promptly answered. In addition, the emails were informative on what to expect. I arranged for an airport transfer ( I would recommend this!!!) and I was met by Hakim at the car stop. I'm not sure I would have found the riad the first time on my own. There are many turns and alleys for all riads - and it was a help to have someone show me the way. The riad courtyard is definitely a photo opportunity. I was met with the customary cookies and Moroccan welcome mint tea. I was shown to my room - on the terrace of this 6 room riad. All riads have a very "local" feel. It was nice to get away from a chain hotel and feel part of the culture. The room was very basic and I would say extremely clean. Towels and bed linens were a good quality and the bed was very comfortable. My only two surprises were no in-room safe and no TV (although I understand other raids did not have a wide variety of channels in English.) The room had a heated floor in the toilet area - which was a nice feature. The room was a concrete-style floor with an area rug. Hint - bring slippers. It was also a bit dark and could have used more light. The room had wood shutters to cover the glass and a cool curtain that covered the wood entry door to keep drafts away. Breakfast was included with the room and kindly served in the courtyard each morning. It consisted primarily of breads and condiments - basically a continental breakfast. It also included tea or coffee, along with the best fresh-squeezed orange juice I have ever had. The only time I ever saw other guests were at breakfast. Everyone whispered during breakfast and I never heard doors slamming or loud guests - this is an adult only property. I enjoyed my stay here!

We loved staying at this Riad. Abdul and Akeem were so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and dinner was fantastic and the roof terrace was very peaceful. The location was great for sightseeing and the room was spacious and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

Really enjoyed our time at Riad Dar One. Hakeem was extremely helpful and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We ate dinner the first night at the riad, and it was truly some of the best food we had eaten during our time in Morocco. The riad was a nice, quiet retreat from the bustling medina. Our room was located on the second floor with a good sized room and very spacious bathroom. We stayed 2 nights and also took advantage of the transportation service to the airport arranged by the riad. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Very close to Bahia palace and an easy walk to the main square. We are also World of Hyatt members, so the nights we stayed were able to count towards World of Hyatt status.

We are older travelers and although I am South African now living in Ireland, this was our first visit to Morocco. Our travel needs are perhaps not the same as younger travelers. We wanted somewhere authentic and close to normal city life. We are happy to spend our whole week in one place. On this basis Riad Dar One was absolutely perfect. We were a hop away from the Bahia Palace (an easy meeting or pickup spot) and from the Place de Ferblantiers (Tinsmith Square). In the Medina and right in the heart of the old Jewish quarter. There was just so much to see and do and taste and experience just in and around the square. Or take a taxi or tuktuk or even horse and cart to areas a bit far to walk in the heat. The staff were fabulous also. Abdelhak met us, served mint tea and Moroccan biscuits, provided a map and made a few suggestions as to outings/experiences - all were perfect for us! Hakim looked after us on a daily basis and was so gracious. He walked and waited with me for my 4.45 am pickup for the balloon ride, and with us for our 2.30am airport transfer. They soothed all concerns and were perfect hosts. They work hard at maintaining their excellent TripAdvisor rating. We had the room (Oasis I think) on the ground floor which was perfect as at our age we are happy to avoid unnecessary stairs. The fact that it faced onto the breakfast area was neither here nor there. We were up and out after early breakfast. The stone bath is as big as a plungepool and was completely fabulous. The rooms were clean, cool and comfortable. The breakfast comprised largely the many different types of bread, with honey, jam, fruit and fruit juice. And good coffee as an alternative to the usual mint tea. We found it both delicious and adequate. Aircon was cold, there was a fan as well. The hairdryer was not working but this was fixed at once. Shampoo and bath gel are the provided toiletries. We loved it and should we ever return to Marrakech we will stay here again.
