We recently spent one night at the Grand Mercure Candolim Goa (December 2024) as a family. The resort has potential, but there are a few things to be aware of. The Good: - Location: Great location slightly away from the main road - peaceful and quiet. Close proximity to Candolim Beach and other attractions. - Spacious Rooms: The family suite was huge (84 sq meters!); Plenty of space to spread out. - Festive Gala: The Christmas Eve gala was a blast Live music, great food, and a fun atmosphere. Our parents especially enjoyed it. - Value: Good prices compared to other resorts in the area. Needs Improvement: - Staff Training: Many staff seemed new and weren't familiar with Accor benefits. - Access Road: The uphill road to the resort might be tricky for some vehicles. - Breakfast: Limited breakfast selection and crowded serving area. - Room Smell: There was a slight damp smell in our room. - Insects: Mosquitoes were present around the plants. Keep those balcony doors closed! - Ongoing Construction: Some facilities were still under construction. Overall: The Grand Mercure Candolim is a promising resort with a great location and spacious rooms. The Christmas Eve gala was a highlight. However, the resort needs to address some issues with staff training, breakfast variety, and ongoing construction to truly deliver a blissful stay. We ended up cutting our stay short and moving to another hotel due to these factors. Tips for fellow travelers: - Ask about construction updates before booking. - Lower your expectations for the breakfast buffet. - Confirm Accor benefits with staff upon arrival
