When transitting France we nearly always choose Campanile. The rooms are basic but comfortable and pretty much the same whichever one you choose. For us the benefit of these is that you can always park, and always get a meal and wine in the restaurant in the evening and breakfast, both at additional cost. So we were beyond shocked to discover the restaurant here is closed at weekends! This did not seem to be apparent on the website so had we known we may have chosen a different destination for an overnight stop. Especially after a four hour drive! There are places to eat nearby but the Buffalo Grill, despite being open all day had no one dining at 5:30 or when we walked past again at 6:30. For a Saturday we were surprised and went to the nearby Chinese buffet instead which was really busy and did great good. Only a 5 minute walk across the road( opposite KFC) The guy on staff at the Campanile spoke good English and was really really helpful. Merci Senor, Gracias Monsieur ( he will understand!🤣) We got food! The beer pump wasn’t working, which is common in Campanile’s we have been to so it’s bottled beer but they were running low on some of those too. Breakfast is pretty standard in all the ones we’ve been to. Cereal, croissants, toast, pastries, cheese and ham etc. This one cost around €12. On the plus side, the air con worked which was not so at the Campanile we used the previous night. I’m sure during week days this might be a better experience but on this occasion for us, thinking we knew what to expect, it wasn’t a good experience.
