Well...what an experience. I wanted to stay in this hotel as it epitomises a time gone by (sadly) and I was not disappointed. This was like going back in time and if you want to relive this the Walpole is for you. From the decor, to the lifts from a time gone by and the wonderful service from all of the staff its lovely. At the weekends sitting in the bar listening to the pianist beautifully playing songs from the past took me back to a bygone age.Jane (owner) has done a marvellous job, dedicated to keeping the hotel true to its history and a more genial host you will never find. Breakfast was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you Jane and all staff.

We arrived at the Walpole three and a half hours early and was told by the friendly receptionist that we were able to check in as our room was ready to our delight we also had a room upgrade first time this has ever happened to us thank you very much. Hotel very quirky and although not for everyone we loved it. Breakfast fabulous and fantastic choice everything you could ask for met the owner Jane who was really proud and passionate about her hotel all staff were lovely. We will definitely be back at sometime and loved the old lift like stepping back in time.

Stayed here a couple of years ago when we came for a show at the Winter Gardens so decided to use it for our cycle tour of the area. Room was very comfortable, staff were very accommodating and breakfast was great. It's right on thw Viking trail ans next to the sea.We'll be back.

What an amazing find, we only got to know about it because it was featured on TV, like stepping back in time but for all the good reasons, staff were brilliant, room spotless with great views. We had a nights stay for my wife's Birthday, afternoon tea with our family was brilliant and breakfast the next day was excellent. Bed was so comfortable.

This hotel is magnificent and well worth a visit. The staff were terrific and could not be more helpful. Only draw back was they don’t do evening meals but it was not a problem as there are good local restaurants and Seb the taxi driver is very reliable.

My husband and I went in for coffees. We both left them on the table as it was too disgusting to drink. My cappuccino had an artificial saccharine taste and no coffee flavour whatsoever. It tasted like the cheap Poundland packets. It was watery, sugary, artificial tasting , cheap muck. My husband’s filter coffee was no better. It was watery and tasteless . Definitely won’t be back.

We visited the Walpole Bat Hotel to celebrate my sisters Golden wedding anniversary and chose this hotel for the history and the aesthetic. We had the most amazing time and I cannot say enough how amazing the staff are. As my sister was not aware that we were all coming to stay the hotel we’re brilliant helping to keep this a secret! Celeste,Demi, apologies I can’t remember all the names on reception, the night porter nothing was too much trouble Rooms were lovely and decorated in line with the history of the hotel. Museum pieces were interesting and well worth a wander round. Lovely sea views from the hotel as well as room. Breakfast was wonderful with all items hot which is unusual with a buffet breakfast. The staff in the breakfast room were attentive and quick to clear tables and offer hot drinks Overall an excellent experience and will definitely visit again Thank you

We spent three nights here with friends. I appreciate the hotel is also a museum but it felt more like a junk shop. Our bedroom was old and tatty with threadbare carpet and a hard uncomfortable bed which didn’t do our backs any good. All staff were pleasant though. Although on checking out they were a bit abrupt and didn’t ask how things had been for us.

The Walpole Bsy Hotel is our goto choice as it is a historic and unique hotel which continues in the traditions of the edwardian building built back in Margates golden era. Comfortable rooms, cream teas and a good buffet breakfast can be found here for guests and freindly staff who provide an excellent and brilliant service. Only issue we had was the hot tap on our room was clearly damaged and didn't work on our visit, but I would say I can still highly recommend the Walpole as a hotel.
