Val Hotel

I don't usually write bad reviews as I like to give small businesses a chance, but I feel this experience was necessary. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. We ended up canceling our last night due to the state of the hotel. - The photos DO NOT look like the hotel - The rooms are damp and dirty - The pool is dirty - The 'hot tub' is freezing cold - Our balcony roof had completely fallen through and they still felt it was suitable to give us - The staff played the TV at 5.30/6am which the whole hotel can hear - The bedding is openly dried on a dirty roof for all guests to see - The bathrooms are filthy - The hotel just generally needs some TLC, it is very dated and the photos are not accurate at all Despite us travelling on a tight budget, we still felt the right thing to do was cancel our last night at this hotel. The staff agreed to give us a refund for 1 x night (to be in my account 5 days later) and at this point I was not to write such a negative review. 6 weeks later, countless emails, countless WhatsApp messages, and countless phone calls at £3 a minute later, we still had no sign of the refund. I was then told, that it was our fault that we did not like the hotel and that the refund would not be issued. I cannot afford to keep calling the hotel to argue this, and it has also put a negative spin on our time to Manuel Antonio. I suggest supporting one of the other lovely local hotels in the area.

Staff was very accommodating when there was a mistake with our reservation (reservation for 2, family of 4). They bent over backwards to make sure we could all stay. The morning breakfast was very good. The location is central and we were able to walk to a couple of restaurants. On the downside, the hotel itself- walls, bathroom, beds- has seen better days and needs some TLC.

We wanted to save others this horrible experience and waste of money that ruined our holiday. Totally disgusted! We are seasoned travellers of 25+ years. Not sure how this slum has any good reviews! We arrived 2am at the 3 bedroom apartment within the Val hotel (Also known as Circle House on other sites).The kids just wanted a shower and go to sleep. First off no hot water, broken shower (toothpaste tube holding shower head, see pics), the one toilet seat was stained, cracked, disgusting (was changed before I got a pic). After laying down 5 minutes, my son was bit on the head by bug in his bed. When I moved the bed, there was live bugs living under there. The sheets were also dirty, cigarette burns on comforters. Then when we went to put some snacks away in the kitchen, there was cockroaches in the drawers and cupboards! Needless to say, we didn’t sleep. We messaged the manager and demanded the place to properly cleaned and toilet seat replaced. Even though they did clean, it was impossible to unsee what we witnessed and only so much that could be cleaned because it is very old, worn and in rough shape (see pics). We didn’t feel comfortable then to unpack or use more than the fridge in the kitchen. It’s very below average standards and not even worth half of what we paid, $2800 for 8 nights. Some of the staff tried to be helpful although we were lied to when we said we didn’t want to say there. The problem was we had paid them ahead for our shuttle and a few tours, so we knew they wouldn’t return our money so we had no choice but to stay a few days. We were then told if we paid cash for those few days, that ******* would refund our full week. We did leave a few days earlier to our hotel close to the airport because we couldn’t stand it any longer. It sounded fishy to us so we refused to pay cash for those days. Needless to say when we arrived home and called ******* they said they didn’t receive a call that it was a lie. We did leave a few days earlier, even though they refused to give us any money back. They said we have to go through ******* for anything. Our biggest mistake was not calling with who we booked with and believing the lies we were told there. The management then avoided us the last few days and sent us a different shuttle to take us to other hotel perhaps because they knew we were treated unfairly and should of been refunded at least part of our stay. Not once did the owner of this unit reach out to us! Also the beach and MA park is not a 12 minute walk as advertised, more lies! Also please note It is very close to the road, so very loud especially with the construction going on right in front. Very narrow and hilly street making it difficult to walk especially with kids. These people do not deserve the business. Not sure how anyone can give this place a good review. The only ok things were the wifi, air conditioning and the sweet lady in the kitchen that worked like a dog to make breakfast each morning with the meagrely suppli

This hotel is the worse we’ve ever stayed in. It is not fit for customers to stay in. Very dirty, dingy and old. The pool is dirty with missing tiles that can cut your feet. The hot tub is cold and the water had a nasty odour. The rooms we had were dirty, I’ll repairs, infested with bugs, old and gross. Don’t bother trying to leave early with any kind of refund like we did. This hotel is only interested in exerting as much of your hard earned money as possible. The owner of this unit did not even try to contact us with all the issue we encountered . The manager was left to deal with our issues and tried his best but he could only so much with so many issues. Its such a complete rip off. Not sure why anyone would consider giving this so called hotel a good review. Please stay elsewhere and have a nice vacation.

A principios de este mes visite este bello lugar.Demasiado lindo el lugar, las personas que atienden las instalaciones muy cordiales y atentos, la comida deliciosa, me encanto, los recomiendo al 100%; con todo gusto volvería a ir.

Buenas queria poner este post porque la verdad no hay forma de que Val Hotel me responda, he llamado y he enviado correos, pero no contestan. El 30 de junio de este año fui con unos amigos de guatemala a Manuel Antonio y nos quedamos por dos noches en este hotel, el penúltimo día cuando iba saliendo del Hotel para un viaje en catamarán a las 8am, en la entrada la aguja del hotel baja de manera rápida ya que no había salido de la entrada y golpea la puerta trasera izquierda de mi carro haciéndole una abolladura , que hice? Rápidamente llame y hablé con el encargado el Sr Donald Mata Duran , para ver cómo ibamos a hacer y quién se haría responsable y el me comentó que el dueño no estaba, pero que le iban a informar ya que es el dueño el que se haría responsable, y como ya estaba tarde para el tour y tenía a mis invitados conmigo, ellos me aseguraron que a mi regreso me tendrían una respuesta, entonces no llame al tráfico, así que cuando volví, que fue como a las 4pm, me dijeron que necesitaban una valoración de algún taller para saber cuánto podría costar la reparación y así ellos poder pagar por el daño, asi que busque un taller en Manuel antonio, y me dijeron que costaría como 80mil cólones me hicieron una factura proforma, y se los traje, se lo mostré a Don Donald y a la vez se los envié por correo electrónico para que también se lo enviaran al dueño pero aun así tenia que esperar a que supuestamente respondiera, El dueño nunca llego, mi estadía termino al día siguiente y al final mis invitados dependían de mi, y al otro día se iban al aeropuerto. Para no cansarlos con el cuento, Don Donald Mata solo me contesto el correo el día que me iba, ya que de necia me quede hasta no tener una respuesta por email, sin embargo después de ese dia NUNCA han respondido los correos, les hemos enviado 6 y nada, pues voy a dedicarme a difundir por todos los medios. IG , Facebook, Tik Tok, Twitter, etc.. de difundir lo que pasó y dejarlos como son unos mentirosos y cochinos por el monto que es!! Pero cómo a mi nadie me regala nada y así sean 1000 pesos me los tengo que ganar, todavía les traje clientes amigo míos de Guatemala y pagan de esta manera
