Pension Poerani Nui

Ia Orana! The Pension Poerani Nui caught our eye when were searching for a real getaway experience in French Polynesia. The beauty of this Motu and its lagoon can not be captured in an image. The people of Manihi, including the hosts Michael and Myriam, are kind, generous and a pleasure to meet. We had our own Pension house with a private bathroom which were clean and tidy. The food was fresh, delicious (often made from fish we caught that day!) and was plentiful. The culture here on the atoll is special and the locals made us feel very welcome. At the pension there is plenty to do and see but we really recommend to anyone going to pay for the activities offered. The lagoon snorkeling and fishing was a breathtaking experience, we have nothing to compare to it in New Zealand. The visit to the pearl farm was fascinating, the workers were happy to show us their craft and were very engaging. We speak English with a little bit of basic French (which I do recommend you practice if you haven't already got some knowledge) but found we could still sit at the table at night and chat with the hosts. If you are interested in scuba diving there is a scuba diving company on the Motu next door (a 2 minute walk or kayak away) with is worth checking out also. Une super pension, dans un cadre magique. Myriam et Mika font tout pour améliorer les infrastructures en permanence. On y mange bien, on y dort bien (les bungalows sont grands), bref tout est réuni pour une déconnexion totale dans une Polynésie de carte postale…

Nous avons passé 3 jours à Manihi chez Myriam et Michael … et nous y avons appris plus de choses qu’en 15 jours dans les autres pensions. Michael est un vrai touche à tout, aussi bien bricoleur pour entretenir la pension et l’améliorer sans cesse, que pêcheur pour nous faire partager sa passion et nous permettre d’essayer la pêche sous marine , ou encore guide touristique hors pair sur la pension et l’île de Manihi, nous avons eu l’honneur de rencontrer grâce à lui le premier greffeur de perle polynésien, petero, rencontre pleine d’émotion … quant à Myriam , elle te reçois comme une amie , partageant son quotidien avec toi ainsi. Que son expérience polynésienne …. Nous étions seuls à la pension et avons vécu une expérience unique ❤️… Mauruuru a vous deux et prenez soin de vous .
