Disappointing Experience – Definitely Not a 5-Star Hotel Unfortunately, our stay at Rio La Vitas did not live up to expectations. Firstly, the staff experience was upsetting—particularly the ice cream attendant, who rudely shouted at my autistic son and me twice to “hurry up,” even though we had only just arrived and were simply choosing a flavour. This was incredibly upsetting and completely unnecessary. The hotel and room décor appears modern at first glance, but much of it is worn, tired, and in need of serious maintenance. The fridge in our room made loud, worrying noises every evening—sounding as though it was about to explode. Cleaning services were very limited. Although a cleaner came daily, all that was done was the bed being tidied, the bin emptied, and towels replaced—there was no proper cleaning. When we arrived after midnight, our room only had one bed and a sofa, despite booking for two adults and a 5-year-old. This was eventually corrected with an additional bed, but while waiting, we looked for spare bedding and instead found two dirty pillows that clearly hadn’t been cleaned. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the games room shown in the hotel photos, which we hoped would help keep our son entertained. However, this no longer exists—something that should be clearly stated on the hotel’s website and booking listings. The food was repetitive and poorly stored—nothing was properly chilled, not even the desserts. The floors throughout the hotel were extremely slippery, and we personally saw at least six children and one adult suffer broken bones during our stay. The pools felt dirty, and the main pool was heated, which made it uncomfortable in the summer heat. Cleanliness around the resort was a major issue. The outdoor toilets were filthy and clearly not cleaned or checked during the day. Around the pool and common areas, there were always dirty plates and half-empty glasses left out for hours without being cleared away—it made the whole environment feel unclean and poorly maintained. Another big issue we noticed was the general attitude of many of the other guests. If you’re British, be prepared for a complete lack of manners. Mealtime was a stressful experience—several times I had plates shoved into my back while choosing food, and people constantly pushed in rather than queue. Even getting in and out of the lifts was a challenge, as people would force their way in without waiting. I’ve genuinely never been around so many rude people in my life, which made the holiday feel more stressful than relaxing. Music starts from 10am daily and is loud, though not quite as bad as some other reviews suggest. But there is very little to do in the evenings unless you’re happy to walk 10 minutes to the beach for a dance show—where the drinks are warm and the entertainment repetitive. The drinks at the hotel were consistently served warm unless you specifically asked for ice, which was often unavailable. The cocktail sele
