Hotel Amaraigua – All Inclusive – Adults Only

My expectations based on the reviews were high for the hotel, however upon my arrival and as my trip went by this has changed drastically and I would not recommend booking this at all as hotels in the area which are marketed as 3 stars looked better. Upon arrival the reception staff were lovely there isn’t a single thing they did wrong however the state of the room I received was questionable, it looked like the floors didn’t get swept between the previous person and me. To get extra toilet roll when ran out or even a shower gel we needed to ask the receptionist for it although the room was made to look presentable on the day. The food is only good if you eat it as soon as it has been made otherwise it goes all cold and you get leftovers it didn’t seem as they were making enough to last the whole duration of lunch or dinner. The bar is a self service with stale snacks from 10am until night. Pool facilities were dirty with the walk in part of the pool being covered in dirt all along and smaller pool no longer exists. The corridors as we were walking to the room constantly stank and it didn't seem that they were doing much about it. Overall no matter what price they offer for the rooms I wouldn’t recommend booking this accommodation even if its just to sleep in ants all over the room.

This hotel was so nice. The reception staff so friendly and helpful. The other staff who work behind the bars were also friendly, had a great sense of humour and worked hard. The Food was excellent, so much choice, all freshly cooked. Breakfast had so many choices from cooked breakfast, cereal, fresh fruit, cheeses, croissants, bread rolls, different types of bread. Jam, honey, marmalade. Lunch you can have cooked meats and vegetables. Salads . Rice. Bread rolls. Fresh fruit. Cooked meats and cheeses. Lovely cakes and trifle, Jelly and ice cream. Dinner was again so much choice. Soup, cheeses, meats, Fish vegetables Vegetarian options. Yummy desserts . All meals served with drinks. The Rose wine was very nice. It was A/I so there was a lot you could choose from. Entertainment was excellent every night. The Hotel was on the beach and had a lovely swimming pool. I am hoping to go again as it was small but so good. Lovely rooms very clean

After a long day of travel to get here we arrived to be greeted by a very unfriendly man who obviously did not want to be here. He gave us our room key, and we opened the door to see one small double bed… (we are not a couple, my friend brought me for the weekend for my birthday) so we went back and asked for a room with 2 beds. He said no, but after us absolutely insisting he gave us another room and literally threw the new key at us. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning works well so that was ok. Breakfast was ok, warm food was definitely not fresh but it was edible. The boiled eggs were the same batch two mornings in a row, all the smashed ones still in the bowl. The pool was clean and the outside area was nice. The barman (Frank I think) was really good but the drinks are definitely, definitely watered down. We drank loads and were nowhere near even tipsy. You don’t get glasses either, everything is in plastic cups. Lunch and dinner were pretty much the same thing all the time, no real choice if you want warm food. The sewage tank empty point is literally outside our room which was a nice touch because they emptied it, not even moving our sun lounges away. The evening entertainment first night was some Latin dancers, and it was performed in the bar area, they were talented but it wasn’t the entertainment we were looking forward to. The bar is a help yourself situation. There is a cocktail machine that gives you squash/cordial and definitely not a cocktail. The 2nd night entertainment was actually really good. It is a really basic hotel so if you want anything remotely fancy look somewhere else, but if you just want a cheap weekend away this is the place to come. Also I would not do the all inclusive option. There are loads of amazing places to eat and drink up the road.

Me and my wife had a week here the 2nd time we visited what a lovely holiday we had, we checked in no problem at all the lady on reception was fantastic the owner was great and very helpful nothing to much trouble he even said when I check out early morning if i want coffee they would make it me. The food was great always something to eat the beer was good OK its in plastic glasses but not a problem. Everyone works really hard to make your stay enjoyable from the guys and girls in the dinning hall the guys behind the bar to the cleaners who make the place spotlessly clean. The hotel is accessible through an underpass which is well lit and safe location is perfect right on the beach. Lots of shops and bars close by and 10 mins to the old town and train station overall a lovely break thank you and keep up the good work.

I was dreading this holiday after booking and then reading the horrific reviews! I need not have worried. It really is ok. Not fantastic, but ok. Positives It was a cheap break Hotel is clean and bedroom spotless Food is actually very good (some dishes do get cool quickly but you find that in most AI hotels) Staff are very friendly Entertainment is fun and lively Pool is small but no children so no problem Right on the sea front and beach is spotless Free safe in bedrooms Hairdryer in room surprisingly good Negatives The cheap plastic cups even inside (so much throw away plastic) AI is ok however there is no drink/coffee/water facilities whatsoever after 23.30 even to purchase. Hotel exterior/pool area is VERY basic and dated If you are happy with 3* you will enjoy yourself, but if you prefer 4* you may be disappointed. It really is “you get what you pay for” but if you are with the right people (as I am) you will have fun.

Wow, what can I say that is not positive about this hotel. Our room was clean and kitted out with everything you would need, including a safe, air con, toiletries, hairdryer and to our surprise a private terrace. This was a sun trap and gave us an aerial view of the terrace below, the sea, street and given privacy with a row of trees and we were fortunate enough to watch parrots fly in and out of them. The staff were very friendly and the receptionist allowed us to borrow a kettle and nothing was too much trouble. As it is a small hotel, you really got to know the staff. It had a relaxed vibe and there were always plenty of sun beds. Don’t get me wrong, sun beds were reserved but not at silly hours. The pool is small but we enjoyed flitting between the pool and beach. The shower by the entrance to the hotel, beach side was useful but the sand was really like fine shingle and didn’t tend to really stick to your skin as much. The food offered huge choice and there was always a meat and fish option. In fact there was a huge array of meat, fish, veg, fruit etc to suit any palette and dietary requirements. The only thing I would say that could be improved was the temperature of the hot food which really should be just that, as it was lukewarm at best. I even had paella which we planned on having at another restaurant out one night but didn’t need to. We thought it was the best food we had in any hotel we had stayed at. The entertainment wasn’t great and geared towards Europeans, particularly Germans and Dutch, with not many English staying the week we were there. The self service bar at night was also a strange phenomenon. The location on the beach was amazing and a good base for sight seeing, particularly to Barcelona, which was just over an hour away by train. This coastal journey was lovely. I believe there are no other hotels on the beach in that local area. Ignore any of the bad reviews and check this hotel out for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
