Futurotel Malagueta Beach

Highly recommended for short holidays in a great location.

This is a modern capsule hotel. Each ‘room’ is a 7m2 pod, stacked 2 high and 8 to 10 pods in each of 5 sleep areas. Each sleep area has a well equipped bathroom, and there are additional bathrooms outside of the sleep areas. The communal areas of the hotel look like a coworking space, with plenty of desk and table space and fast wifi. There is a kitchen area too, with shared fridges and cooking facilities. The sleep pod itself is very comfortable in terms of mattress and pillows. That is important when you are sleeping in an enclosed space like this. Your pod is high tech and has lots of neon , so pack an eye mask because even the 3 light switches glow so brightly they will keep you awake. Ear plugs are also essential (not an issue) but the comfort of your stay will depend upon the other people who share the sleeping zone where your pod is situated. If people respect others, maintain silence and generally behave like good human beings there is no problem. Sadly two of my three nights here were disturbed by poorly mannered people who either argued or talked loudly as if they were staying in their own well sound insulated hotel room. The staff are very professional, and the premises are kept spotlessly clean. The location is brilliant in a simply wonder neighbourhood. Skip the breakfast served at this hotel and go to one of the local spots nearby for an authentic and inexpensive breakfast. This is definitely worth trying if you want to experience an ultra modern pod hotel. Japanese toilets, internet enabled mirrors, robots buzzing around to clear dishes. If you are not expecting a pod hotel then you are in for a surprise.

From a travel point of view this alternative lifestyle hostel/Capsule hotel is a refreshing change from the norm . I have stayed several times mainly because I love Málaga and the Malagueta Playa is so convenient for many attractions ~ Muelle Uno and the Port,restaurants and bars and 15 minutes walk to the fabulous Alcazaba, Teatro Romana Amphitheatre and Gibralfaro Mirador entrance and the Historic Quarter. I enjoy most of the facilities of Futurotel and am Hugely impressed at the Hard Work of the ' Small' staff team of dedicated people Recently I heard that 3 staff members were summarily dismissed by the Cash oriented conscienceless Owners/ Management . I understand the Reception team have joined the Union to support their very clear case for Employees terms and conditions and fare pay. I wish them every success because it's the Reception/Housekeeping team that makes the Futurotel a success. I URGE any Clients/Guests to consider this and Question the Punitive activities of the owner against this hard working Hotel Family.
