Burke Mansion

We had the delightful fortuity of discovering this place after making a last minute change of plans to visit Macon, Georgia. The first thing I will say is that if historic antebellum properties that operate as a bed and breakfast are not you cup of tea, then this is not for you. There is no elevator, the bathrooms are truly period in design and function. This mansion was built in the 18th century! If you ARE into this type of experience, then without a doubt, this is the place!. My wife and I enjoy antiques and historic properties. We were very happy with our experience at Burke Mansion. The interior is just beautiful. Perhaps due to the storm, we were at times the only people in the mansion. It felt like living in a bygone era. Our spacious room was wonderfully adorned with antiques. There was an upstairs sitting room with coffee and bottled water. The breakfast is chosen upon check-in and is brought to your beautiful white table cloth dining table in the formal dining room at the time of your choice. I must also say that Paul, who is the curator of the property, was extremely nice and helpful. He made great suggestions about things to do in Macon and wonderful dining spots. He was also very good about texting us with "need to know" matters concerning the storm. We found Macon to be an interesting place to visit for two days and I must say that Burke Mansion was a highlight of the trip! Highly recommend.

I wanted to love it since the reviews were so good. But it was so disappointing. Maybe if was the rain but the moldy smell was the first thing you noticed. The mansion is beautiful bur needed to be vacuumed. Our room was the Mary Burke Suite. Very lovely but the bathroom was a disaster. No working cold water faucet. No stopper for sink to shave. No water cup. No tissues in box. Hardly any toilet paper on roll and no spare. Shower complicated. But the worst was the brown puddle on floor by toilet. The coffee snack station wasn't refilled prior to check in. Would I recommend? No.

This is a charming old homestead that has been restored. Very interesting history on the house and Macon. We stayed here while traveling through Macon and it was such a nice change from the hotels that are on interstate! Our bed/linens were very comfortable, large room, our bathroom was quite small which was the norm for when the house was build.

The mansion was absolutely gorgeous, and breakfast was delicious! Paul and J.D. went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We'll definitely stay again next time we're in Macon!

This is the true bed and breakfast. Everything is delightful. Modern conveniences with old world charm. The stay made us feel like royalty. The bed is very comfortable. The host is available if needed but not in your face. The morning chef was delightful and the food was delicious. Will stay here again.

The mansion is absolutely grand and lovely. Of course it has all the charms of old money and exquisite taste from a century ago - but it also has everything today’s travelers want in an upscale stay. Paul - the House Manager - has found his perfect calling. From the moment of our booking he was on it. He called prior to us arriving asking if he could arrange dinner reservations or anything else to make our stay perfect. He met us and charmed us with stories of Macon and the Burke Mansion. Happy hour in the grand parlor was a perfect way to start the evening. Breakfast in the formal dining room or charming kitchen is a fine experience. You’ll enjoy every corner of this mansion with its well appointed antiques, hand carved moldings, and impeccable southern hospitality by Paul.
