Hôtel Vaubecour - Centre Lyon Ainay - Perrache

Great boutique hotel in a quiet area close to Perrache station. Room is not big but very clean and a nice sized bathroom. Staff were friendly and engaging. Two blocks from a pedestrian street (V. Hugo) and an easy stroll to Vieux Lyon and the centre . A wonderful boulangerie situated on the corner and a convenience store beside the entrance. A very good and comfortable hotel to stay in.

I chose this hotel because of the reviews and the owner’s response to the reviews. I knew exactly what it was going to be like based on what I read. The owner, Mr. Prieur, replied to most reviews and I appreciated the time he took and the responses he gave. I knew the hotel would be clean, and a great value. I was not disappointed! The room and bathroom were a generous size, we had two twin beds pushed together which is what I expected and the owner had confirmed with me that is what I wanted. The room was extremely clean and the beds and sheets were comfortable. I knew there was no AC as I made sure to check in the description, but knew it would be cooler when I was there so it would not be a problem. The room is decently sound proofed and there was a fan in case you need air. There is also a kettle to make coffee or tea. We did not have breakfast, but I’m sure it would have been lovely. The hotel and area felt safe and there was a lift which was great! The young man who checked us in was very nice and helpful, as well as the owner Mr. Prieur. There are a couple of restaurants in the area and a bakery down the street. It’s also walking distance to the old town of Lyon. There’s a little market downstairs as well so you can buy drinks or snacks. We ate at Casabea for dinner in a lively area of restaurants and the food was great and the waiter was lovely. I truly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to stay here again! It’s a great price and a lovely place!

We booked this hotel based on other reviews, pictures, and because it was a TripAdvisor Travelers choice award. Upon climbing the two stories (I read of this ahead of time-no surprise) I was dismayed to see how shabby the place looks-truly, the pictures do it too much justice. I will not put so much credence on the Traveler’s choice award in the future. However, all was clean. Breakfast in the morning was reasonable and typical French breakfast.

The perfect one night stay while exploring Lyon. Really handy location between The Confluence and the Hotel Ville means everything is walkable. We had a lovely spacious room, with gorgeous period details, a truly incredible bed and even our own little balcony. Everything was impeccably clean and breakfast was very reasonable. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Lyon.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Vaubecour. For a very reasonable price, you get to experience a hotel but also a more authentic French apartment experience in a great location. Each room has a fireplace (non-functional) from back in the day. It is super cute :) Also, it has everything you need for a few nights, enjoyable stay.
