The Bonnicott Hotel Lynmouth

We have just arrived home from a couple of nights stay at this B&B and we could not fault it. The owners of this hotel were lovely. They were very welcoming throughout our stay, continually made sure we were happy, if we needed anything and we thought the stay and their restaurant was definitely good value for money. The food in their restaurant was of great quality and very tasty. We highly recommend this B&B.

Not our first time at the Bonnicott but returned due to previous excellent service. Catherine and Sarah are just perfect hosts always a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble! We had a lovely room with Sea View. Very clean and comfortable. An en-suite bathroom with shower, added touches with toiletries cotton wool were very welcomed. We were very comfortable. Situated very close to Lynmouth town and Harbour. Breakfast was included and wonderfully cooked we also opted for evening meal which did not disappoint! I’ve never known hospitality done so well and this place feels like a home from home! Would definitely recommend to others wanting a short break or holiday! We will be returning!

Cathryn was very attentive during my short break. The service was great and the hosts friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. It was the sort of establishment that screams friendly service and my only question would be why wouldn’t you want to return. The one tiny issue I had was the entrance to the hotel, there is quite a lot of steps and a fairly steep path to go with it. Anyone younger and fitter than me would have no problem.

We stayed here in 2021 for 2 nights to celebrate our golden wedding and vowed to return. 3 years later we returned for another 2 nights for an anniversary stay, again to stay in room 3 with lovely views over towards the sea, a superb four poster bed, comfy seats to look at the view and a well furnished and decorated room. A residents lounge was available to all guests, with a drinks service from the bar next door. Ample seating and books to enjoy this space even if weather was not good an added bonus. Both the lounge and dining room were in conservatories giving excellent views and maximum light. Breakfast and evening meal is preordered, which not only eliminates waste but ensures very prompt and efficient service particularly as the whole show is run by only Sarah and Cathryn. Both breakfast and evening meal use the best of ingredients and there is an excellent choice. We ate there on the Wednesday evening and both our choices were superb in presentation and taste. Service and cleanliness is without fault. Provided we still have the ability to walk up the path in our advancing years, we will certainly return.

We ate at the restaurant and were most disappointed. We pre ordered the sea food platter and had high hopes. But instead it was mediocre and unimaginative. Even though it was over £100 for 2 they quibbled about the bread, asking us to pay extra though clearly stated it was included. All seemed so unnecessary. Not worth it.

We enjoyed a brilliant 3 night stay at Bonnicott. We had dinner at the hotel on our first evening, cooked by Sarah, which was delicious, as were the breakfasts! Cathryn was a most excellent front of house host, and was very attentive, making sure we wanted for nothing! The location was super for us, but not suitable for wheelchair users, or people who may have difficulty with steps. Our room was lovely and clean, but we did find the pillows a bit firm for us. We really loved the decor and layout of the hotel, and would certainly recommend it!
